Was it seen as a "big deal" when Keith Knox retired from the SFL and became player/manager at Trammonford Park ? Struggling to find any records of how Knox got on as manager and it would be interesting to see if he had any impact. Did his time in charge see Wigtown spend some money in an attempt to push the club forward ?

spent a couple of years at wigtown, not sure how they got on in terms of winning trophies.... was localy seen as a big deal and i think he was backed well enough by the wigtown Board ... at start of this season he returned to stair park to take over the reserve team and on gerry brittons departure to PTFC, he became no.2 to derek Ferguson..certainly things took a turn for the worse at wigtown when keith left and they have not had the best of seasons

The Potts Cup win against Crichton was, as far as I can see, Wigtown's first trophy since winning the South of Scotland League Cup in 1994-95. They finished 8th in 2005-06 and 7th in 2006-07. Their previous top ten finish had been in 1995.

Overall record was:

P 82
W 40
D 9
L 33
F 210
A 170

Thanks for the info Jamie. Looks as if Knoxy did a good job there and since he's left it's gone back to the usual crap

Reached 4 finals but only managed to win Potts Cup .Watch out next years team will be a decent side with many who left returning plus other new players.

Good to hear. Trammonford Park is a decent wee ground for that level of football and hopefully a more successful side might see a few more of the locals turn up to watch. Any idea what names are being linked with a return to Wigtown ?
