Creetown 3 Stranraer Athletic 0

Dalbeattie Star 3 Wigtown 0

Mids 5 Dumfries 3

St Cuthbert's 1 Threave 4

Went down to see Newton Stewart beat Crichton 2-1. Thought Crichton were decent in first half, scored a good goal and worked hard. Newton looked poor.

Totally different story in the second half though. Crichton went completely off the boil and forgot that they needed to get the basics right. Newton were right on top of them and scored two terrific goals, the second was a great strike. When they started to play, Newton looked like they have some good players and it was a nice way for them to finish the season.

What kind of team did the Crichton put out?

Saints Threave game never really did anything until the last 15 when all the goals came, Threave took their chances well and Saints fizzled out

Crichton had a strong side out. To my knowledge the goalkeeper was the main player of note missing. Rest of their squad seemed to be there. Maybe the odd other player missing but being honest no more than any other side. We had 5 or 6 missing.

Fair play to Crichton though, tried to play football and Im sure they can cope with a lose to Newton when they are league winners.

Tis a strong squad would have expected a crichton win.

Just have to say good sportsmanship last night by the Threave fans and players applauding Ian Cairnie off the park last night and thanks for the help Threave provided with his injury. :)

Yup its me Stringer ;)

First half vs Newton, we shoulda had game put beyond any doubt but Newtons goal stayed intact albeit the one goal. As chance after chance was squandered in final third with Newton not really creating many chances towards Crichtons goal.

Second half... Crichton seemed to take foot off pedal a bit, and Newton crept more and more into the game, winning their individual battles and crowding out majority of Crichtons attacks. Newton deserved to win all in all with two excellent goals... powerful header from a corner for the first, then a left foot shot which rifled into the net from fully 20yards.

And yeah Gary Kerr played in goals... and couldnt be faulted for his performance.

Fair account of the game. 1st half Crichton def the better side. We looked a bit tired and confidence down from a couple of bad performances of late. Obviously against the league champs we prob expected them to take the game to us and although we played decent Crichton had the majority of the possession. Lost a goal at a bad time when we were starting to play a bit better but at 1 nil not the worst as a second goal would have probably finished the game for us.

Second half our boys started to show a lot more belief and I would say not only did we show determination but also played quite a bit of football in doing so. Keeper obviously wasnt the regular but I doubt either goal would have been stopped. Good corner resulted in a headed goal from David Hyslop and a superb run and strike for the 2nd from Micky Sutherland. Both powerful and in the top corner. Probably could have killed the game off with a couple of decent chances. Last 5-10 we defended well and main threat came from set pieces.

Supposedly the Crichton manager was quite complimentary of our team after the game which is always nice to hear. Seems like a good guy and has done a fantastic job.
