Will it be Heriot Watt who already have the points on the board or will Peebles win their last 5 games and pip the Watt by having a superior goal difference?

Got to agree with PRMan - I used to get irritated when people referred to Peebles as FEEBLE Rovers but on Saturday's showing nothing could be more appropriate. There was more fight shown by the women doing their shopping up toon!

Strong words borderer2007 - strong, but factually incorrect. I understand Peebles have, and continue to ask McGinlay if he'll stay on board....
I think he's just there to help out rather than being part of the management 'team'.
Perhaps an apology is due to the man given his contribution to Peebles football over the years from playing, coaching, managing.... Tweeddale Rovers, Peebles Rovers, Tweeddale Tots.....?
If he is still thinking about helping out your local team next year I'm sure your posting will help him decide against it you ignorant grunt!
It's folks like McGinlay that Peebles will need next year.......

McGinlay's pretty nuts but a real football guy. He is a decent lad who is always 100% committed to the cause. It's people like him that football club's need, regardless of where their from!!

Back to the OP, it may be mathematically possible for Peebles to win the league. But teams who get beaten 2-0 at home by opponents from the bottom half, are not going to win all their remaining games. Heriot-Watt will win the division, and I anticipate Peebles will come 2nd and be promoted. (OK, some claim they will turn down promotion, we'll wait and see).
What with a possible SFL vacancy, alleged defection of Whitehill to the Juniors (has anyone confirmed or put to bed this story btw?), alleged application of Stirling University, possible 'turn down' of promotion by Peebles, and possible withdrawal of Berwick Reserves, the size and format of the divisions next season could bear little or no correlation to 2-up-2-down!!

For one , Peebles were well beat by Local lads thats all i can say most of the Vale team , one of the boys scored two goals against Peebles who had to leave Peebles due to The exiting Peebles management pulling in so called superior players ..i right. NO talent in the Peebles area get to ****. Those few and i mean FEW ,you know who you are supporting the present management i your running for cover now. Its taken Vale a season nearly but those local lads have more than pulled their weight. looking in no one expects Peebles to do anything next season it will take time to get a steady side but at least all that dead wood of thinking will finally be removed. As far as i Know the Whole team will not be made up of Peebles players for the sake of it. A few will be out of town which is good as missed by many, but the majority if good enough will be Local. Just like the Vale see whats available within the area first.
Peebles win the league ? your having a laugh .

Interesting if true - I hadn't heard that. On what grounds is their membership being contested?
Something to do with not paying money into a fund or something like that. I heard that they were financial strapped. I could be wrong of course.

I've heard Edinburgh Athletic are secure for next year and the longer term as they are merging with one of Edinburgh's established youth team set up's along the lines of Tollcross and Tynecastle.....

Did Peebles not beat Vale recently?
Vale are full of local lads but look where they are in the league. Also I'm assuming that the management team went down the route of bringing in boys from edinburgh as the local route did not seem to be working. When was the last time Peebles did anything of any note? I've been around the EoS for a few years and can't remember Peebles having anything other than a middle of the road team.
I don't know the ins and outs, but it seems to me that for all the pelters this Peebles team is receiving, they are still in with a good shout of promotion which is better than any Peebles team of recent times or Vale of Leithen who are full of local lads.

Have to agree with the good Doctor on this one, as an outsider I think its pretty shocking that a very small number of local yokels (lets face it, the whole Peebles fanbase is one man and his dog anyway) have basically ruined what was looking like a pretty successful season for Peebles.
I am sure if any of the 'local lads' were actually good enough they would have got into the team, obviously they were not.
Will be interesting to see where these small minded 'fans' are on a Saturday afternoon when a team of local lads are sitting down near the bottom of the 1st division.

True, but at least they're still in contention which is more than can be said for vale. Also I'm sure the constant bickering hasn't helped.
Please tell me when was the last time a Peebles team full of locals found themselves in their current position with 5 games to go?

Add Eyemouth United to that, we play with all local lads. Hawick RA also play all local lads except their goalkeeper.

hahahaha
this is exactly what im talking about the jealousy of innerleithen - you won a game - woooooo.
In the grand scheme of things, its a game. I saw no reaction like this from Peebles when we beat your lot....but thats because we don't care about one game
If Vale were so good shame they didn't play like that all season or they would have been at the top - just raising their game for the big ones !!

i see the h watt boys were present at the peebles game yest hoping for peebles to ,lose or draw but was never going to happen, the hardest game is over and was won quite easily , so its a clean sweep for the next four game s hence the championship,
