I personally think with all the changes that wil be happening at peebles at the end of season goin up could be the worst thing that could happen to the football club!. Yes it would look good on lamb/robertson( selkirk bound) and pagents cv, but with little money to entice top local players next season in the prem could turn out to be a complete disaster and could cause unlimited problems for seasons to come. Agree or disagree thats my opinion. I fear for frenchy and co.

I completely agree. I am aware of some players (all from amateur teams) who have already been approached to play for Peebles next season and none of them are good enough for the First Division never mind the Premier Division. Most of these players are not even interested which shows just how difficult it will be for Peebles to attract players.

As for ML going to Selkirk. I have also heard this. A lot of Peebles current squad are supposed to be joining Selkirk also. Put this together with the resources already in place at Selkirk and I think a promising season is ahead for the Souters.

Think they should start by putting up car proof barriers like they have at airports.

I have never hide my thoughts on what has happened at Peebles over the last 3 months or so, as a local and a ex player I'm disgusted at how the current boys and management have been treated. None of them wanted to leave but it was clear some people had their own thoughts on entering EOS management.
To go with local players is a smoke screen the simple truth is they can't attract top players or decent EOS borders players as nobody wants to be a whipping boy for anyone.... and people will say give locals the chance.. well my answer is simple there is enough local teams where every player can find their own level. What will happen any young lad coming through will want to ply his trade along the road at the vale...
When Peebles really had a top team in the 50's only 3 players came from the toun but nobody cared as long as the boys kept winning, my dad said the crowds were brilliant and every player who pulled on the red & white were made to feel welcome and that should be the case at any club. I fear for my club well it ain't Rovers no more so I suppose Peebles will eventually become a half decent Border Ams club :(

Go up or not, they'll toil badly.

However, I may be wrong according to the pretty picture supporter-rvs painted not that long ago....

That reminds me, where did supporter-rvs go?

That rumour has been floating about for quite some time. The commitee have denied it but surely it would be a wise move. They will struggle even if they stay in the 1st Division.

That's the kind of thing that happens in the amateur leagues!

I understood from supporter-rvs' comments that next season would see a new rejuvinated Peebles based team that would compete against the best. Looks like the new regime doesn't share his / her confidence!

If this happened who would get promoted, the third place team. Would that be fair?

There are teams who cannot get into second place but could get third. Those teams may use the remaining games of the season to try new things in preparation for next season plus their players may prefer to rest etc. If they then found out they could have made promotion then they might be a tad upset.

The town of peebles would be laughed at if peebles fc were to ask not to be promoted.... thats asuming they get promoted..... 4 difficult games to play before the request not to be promoted can be submitted????

I am aware of a couple of players who have agreed to give Peebles a shot next season. Both of them are good enough players for amateur level. However, they certainly lack the quality required for EOS. I also know a number of players who turned down the oppurtunity to play for Peebles. Again they are not of the required quality. I would actually like to see Peebles doing well and so hope they begin to look further a-field for players.

The funny thing about it all is when peebles started the season we were flying , then came along the news that the fuckers sittin on the board did not like the fact that the players where from the capital , but mark and rab didnt care we still played on and had one of the best seasons in peebles history .
I feel sorry for the players and the staff because if we do get promoted then none of us will be playin for peebles next year . we could have made or mark against the top teams but the board members ruined that , as to the question would promotion be good for the club , yes it would be for the players that have put on the peebles shirt this season cause everyone has work very hard , but for the new team next season , they will finish bottom no matter what league they are in.

Everyone at the club know it will be hard , unfortunately this underlying problem has been brewing long long before you came on the scene (Years). To say Peebles will finish bottom is a bit rich. You really cant say that when you dont know any of the players sought or who play in the region.

wish you well in finding a new club and above all carry on playing football.

Are you a scout seem to know a lot on players. everyone has their opinion .
bottom of the 1st division i beg to differ at the lower end a possibility but will only improve as time goes by.

When the Rovers won the league in 97/98? I'm sure they had a good squad from Peebles, and Edinburgh lads?
Anyone confirm?

No, I am not scout. I do however have a lot of knowledge of the EOS game. I know the players being sought personally. As you say only time will tell. I wish Peebles all the best for the season.
