My 20 minute lovely drive to work has been hampered for months by a series of temporary traffic light installations seemingly set up at random wherever it suits the team of muppets undertaking the guiness world record for shovel leaning.
Can any builder , road diggy up company just set them up as and wgere they please or do they need officla permission from the local authority.
I say this as I am getting might pissed off as it appears that they are popping up everywhere without much real need and I would like to return the favour to these w**kers by making their job a lot harder as they are making my lif e amisery.
This morning I had to go through three seperate sets of these lights and my journey took 45mins. Making me an hour late as opposed my usual 15 mins....not good enough!!!!

If it's a private road then you can put traffic lights up willy and indeed nilly, but if the roads been adopted by the local authority then a Roads Order needs to taken out and the local authority need to put notice either in the local press or on a signs on the roads. It's normally a laminated piece of paper with writing that small no one knows what it means

I doubt very much all these fucking flashing installations have permission...I may start a campaign to rid the roads of them.

Any road which has been adopted by the local authority MUST have a Notice submitted for ALL works on the highway which will interfere with the normal flow of traffic. This has been extended in recent times to even include things like skips.
If you get the exact location you can simply call the local roads department (sometimes known as transportation services) and ask if consents have been given and the duration of the works.
If you get nowhere drop me a PM and I can have a wee peek for you

it might not surprise you but i've pretty much burned my bridges with most elected members serving my constituency, national, scottish and council.
In particular Tom Clarke has seen fit to stop corresponding with me and north lanarkshire planning department lets out an audible groan when I phone.
Still I can use a false name so tomorrow could be fun filled as I expect they have just chucked many of them up without any say so.

primarily because they take no notice of the ramifications of their idotic siting and sequence of the lights and today one of the ones on my route to work was blocked off so the workies could park their cars near where they were working...I kid you not they were digging off the road and had coned off their cars.

Heres another spin on the question. Was driving past a building under construction by a private contractor. A that was delivering materials was parked the wrong way on the inside lane of two lane road with its hazards on. Then this workie, young neddy lookin fella comes out and stops two lanes on lunchtime traffic so that the van can do a three point turn and get away, then he gets off the road to wave people to continue. Are they allowed to do that ?

No. That is classed as impersonating a police officer and is illegal.
