Baws. If ever a man was born to direct a cinematic version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it's Tim Burton.

it just smacks of being a bit too over the top in trying to beat the original. Can't watch any more

Why is there so many contradictions?
They live in a slanted house that looks as though it's from the 1800s where four people share a bed, but when the 'golden tickets' were released, and it goes around the world looking at the different reactions: New York was in the modern day, with the Manhattan skyscrapers; Japan had electronic doors and electronic cash registers. I assume it is set in London, as they all speak with such accents (apart from Wonka?), but on the other hand they use dollars and call chocolate 'candy'.
I know it's only a kids' film, but I can't stand inconsistencies like that.

Apart from Johnny Depp, I thought it was very well cast, to replicate the original.

The original is far better, the oompah-loompah songs in it were much superior

The oompah-loompah songs in the original are better, but Johnny Depp makes the remake are far better film.

Depps wonka was better and I prefered the Burton pallet of the movie more.
But the first movie is far better. Better songs, better progression, just better.

yep, the original was a million miles better. very disapointed in that remake. they dropped a lot of the best bits from the original, the scarey bloke offering to buy the secrets, the burping scene, the oompa loompa song. in fact everything in the original was better

I've never seen the remake actually. I've got it on DVD though so I'll have to watch it some time.

Apparently Roald Dahl despised the original, thought they had basterdised his story!

Do you have an acceptable level of paedophilia that films have to stay under???
Maybe a Jerry Lee Lewis video.
