Yep, I'd take a 3-2 away victory as well ;) :P

I can see the game being all-ticket, and I presume Dundee will be able to get the whole of that stand if needs be?

Should also have a decent amount of highlights on Sportscene. They can show up to three 'featured' games and it just so happens Aberdeen v Celtic has been bumped to the Sunday :D

The club have a meeting with the police today about whether or not the game needs to be all ticket. I presume Dundee will be consulted before that, though I know we already spoke to them last week "just in case".

My own inclination is that it probably should be all-ticket but I imagine if we're given an option not to do so we may well take it since it cuts the admin hassle.

What's novel about highlights on Sportscene? We've been one of the two main featured games in each of the last two rounds. ;)

Well done Dundee, looking forward to a good dust up at Palmerston.
Is it true that Alex Rae is trying to acquire emergency loan players to cover his suspended and cup tied players? <_<

Edit:This information is on Teletext this morning.

Rae did say that to the press after the match

I think it's a pretty poor show if Dundee are looking for emergency loan players just for the Scottish Cup. It's a squad game FFS! <_<

I don't see how Dundee would be allowed to get an emergency loan to cover suspended and cup tied players, this surely only covers an injury / illness crisis at the club. Suspensions are a punishment for poor discipline (regardless whether or not the cards were deserved). Similarly for cup-tied players. Dundee must have known they wouldn't be available for the cup when they were signed (unless of course they use the same rule book as Brechin :D ).

Er, glass house, stones and all that.

We asked for, and got, an emergency loan back of Willie Gibson last season to cover the cup run because Stevie Murray was cup tied. Don't really see the difference. If Dundee apply for an emergency loan they'll get one. They won't get a player as good as McDonald though.

I hadn't realised that was the reason for taking Gibson back on loan. I thought he was loaned back immediately, and had he not already played for us in the cup? Regardless, I still don't agree with emergency loans in any competition apart from the injury / illness scenario.

This has the makings of a cracking tie - two evenly matched sides playing in front of a full house. It'll be interesting to see the exact ticketing arrangements employed by Queens. I can't wait to get my hands on one! I'd have thought Dundee will have little difficulty in selling an allocation of 2200 for such a big match.

I think we're justified in asking for an emergency loan of a centre-back - we have a grand total of 2. OK, Eddie Malone can shift into the middle and Paul Dixon can slip in at left-back, but that's no replacement for a true centre-back for such a big game.

Midfield isn't really a problem, IMO. We can put Daquin and Sw**kie/O'Brien on the wings with Robertson and McHale in the middle.

Game will be all ticket. 3pm at Palmerston Park, Saturday 8th March.

Dundee are getting the East Stand, 2,200 tickets or near as damn it. Pricing still to be confirmed. It will be announced tomorrow.

Queens will be issuing vouchers at the Stirling Albion game on Saturday which will entitle the holder to one ticket for the cup game in advance of the general sale (but after season ticket holders).

He was loaned back immediately, and he had already played for us in the cup. Fact remains though he came back on an emergency loan specifically because his replacement was cup tied.

People get too caught up in the word "emergency". You don't need to have an emergency to get a loan. It's just a name. It's a way for the SFL to allow loan transfers outwith the window the same as the English have done all along. So far as I know nobody has ever been rejected for one for any reason and Dundee won't be either if they ask for one.

Thats a decent allocation I suppose, hope you sell all your tickets, but it would mean doubling your average home gates,do you think you will? The more the merrier I say.

From the Tele.

The quarter-final will be all ticket with around 2200 briefs heading for Dens. The limited number means they will go on sale to season ticket holders first, though exactly when has still to be decided. Dundee have asked QOS to consider a drop in normal admission prices.

Eh, there's feck all chance of us dropping prices to less than a league game for a quarter final. That's commercial lunacy. Debate is ongoing about pricing but it won't be cheaper than a normal league game and both teams are in agreement on that.

We regularly double our average home gate for games against the big teams. Will be interesting to see if we do for Dundee though ;)

Given that it is an excellent chance of progressing to the semi-final, I would say we will sell all our tickets no problem. How about you, will you manage to get shot of your tickets? I don't think you have brought anywhere near that much to Dumfries in a while.
Look at you. You're a slippery genius!

It should prove to be a good tie and I think both teams will certainly be up for it. QOS certainly have the advantage of a home tie and looking at our record at Palmerston recently, it suggests that QOS would be the favourites in that respect...but if Dundee (although a weakened side with the two red cards) can produce a performancce like that against Motherwell, then they have a chance. Realistically I think it will go to a replay.

QOS 1-1 Dundee.

Replay:

Dundee 2-1 QOS

Dundee have 2,500 season ticket holders according to David McKinnon.

I'll be interested to see how we get on selling ours. We didn't quite sell them all v Hibernian. Were a few hundred short I think. This is the same stage, a lesser opponent (no direspect intended Dundee) but a better chance to progress. Will demand be up or down?

I'll be going e/w on Queens to win the Cup in the morning.

Celtic and Rangers will (most likely) be in the semi-finals but Queens should be favourites against Dundee all things considered and none of the other four should scare them so it all comes down to avoiding the Old Firm. I imagine they'll be 40/1 at least, so it's worth a few quid IMO.

Sky Bet are offering us at 66-1 tonight, in from 400-1 before the Morton tie and 250-1 before Dundee knocked out Motherwell. 1/3rd the odds for an each way place.

Ladbrokes still have us available tonight at 80-1 with also 1/3rd odds for a place.

Hills don't appear to have a coupon available for the outright competition win at the moment.

Irritatingly SkyBet have Dundee 25-1 and Ladbrokes have them 33-1. Very generous of them but I don't really see an awful lot of justification for Dundee being so much shorter priced than us. I was also pretty irritated that Morton were a shorter price than us to win it when they still had Gretna to play and we were already through waiting and had beaten them 3-0 a week earlier. Bookies consistently underestimate us. Also why we often do well in the handicap leagues.

Hills still have us 100-1 to win the cup!

And selling all your tickets would be more than six times as many as you brought to Palmerston for the league game.

This is the QF of the Scottish Cup and all the romance that goes with it. The trawl down to Dumfries for a league game isnt as inviting as that by a long way. Go figure

For the very same reason that we are likely to double our home gate. Which is the point I was making.
dee4life is grudgingly accepting that 6 times your usual allocation is "decent", then questioning whether we would possibly double our average home gate.
If anybody should "go figure", it is him.
