My tickets arrived today in the post. Mrs MB, being a bit titchy, will be happy to hear that we're sitting in the stand, though I would probably have preferred the terracing. The things one does for love.

Thanks SD (or whoever dealt with my tickets). :D

Likewise for me except it's my old man not my Mrs, and he's lazy not titchy! He did collect my ticket for me though so I can't complain!

Think the last game I watched from the Old Stand was a League Cup game against Hearts, possibly with a Steven Leslie goal and a 3-1 defeat? It was a long time ago anyway and I was just a boy!

Just thinking back to the few games I have watched from the Old Stand, I remembered the infamous George Rowe hat-trick against Stranraer. Growing up I always watched games from the New Stand, unless they were all ticket cup games, as it allowed my Dad to smoke, but for some reason I was in the Old Stand for that one. I don't remember Palmerston with the coo shed so I always assumed it was replaced before I was born. Does anyone know when that Stranraer game was, and if I was in the Old Stand because the new one was being built?

The coo shed was definitely still in use at the end of the 1988-89 season. I remember it being crammed full with Killie fans on the last day of that season when they beat us 6-0 but still ended up relegated along with us.

I think it could well have been closed soon after that though, and bulldozed within a couple of seasons to make way for the new stand.

To do my statto bit I'm fairly sure that the opening game for the new stand was in the spring of 1995 - a 2-2 draw with Rangers.

And more of a guess than a statto bit but I think the hand of George game against Stranraer was the last game of the 96/97 season. Could well be wrong though.

The Hearts game was 18th August 1999. Steven Leslie had us one up at half time with a rare goal but Scott Severin and two from Darren Jackson gave Hearts a 3-1 win.

The infamous "Hand of George" game was 30th November 1996. The Perfect hat-trick against your derby rivals. One with the foot, one with the head and one with the hand! In the last minute!

The East Stand was opened towards the end of the season before that. Can't recall when Tom Wharton declared it officially open at the moment (there is a plaque on the office wall at Palmerston though so I'll find out) but it was certainly open when Rangers arrived for the 75th Anniversary match on 23rd April 1995 because Hector Monro presented a cheque on behalf of the Football Trust that day in recognition of its completion.

The Terregles Street terrace last had a safety certificate for the last home game of the following season which was a 1-1 draw with Montrose on 27th April 1996 so there was one season in which there was away seating AND away standing.

I'm not sure exactly when the old Cow Shed was flattened but if the ground maps in the SFL Review Books can be believed then it was still there in late 1991 but not there in late 1992 so I'd have thought the summer of 1992 is most likely when it was knocked down.

Thanks for the info guys, really quite impressed with myself for remembering the details of the Hearts game as my memory is usually rubbish! It doesn't explain why I was in the Old Stand for the Stranraer game I will need to quiz my dad about that one, I can only assume it was before he discovered the wonders of being allowed to smoke in a stand that isn't largerly made of wood!

For those of you who happen to care about these things, it'll be Paul Mitchell commentating on the game for Sportscene.

The BBC seemingly view this as a bigger tie that Saintees v Saints.

We've sold over 3,000. Dundee have sold over 2,000 (60 or so left on Friday apparently).

There's still roughly about 1,000 terracing tickets left for our end which is slightly disappointing but I'd expect them to dribble away this week as the build up starts seriously and the media starts to promote the game. I'm still hopeful we'll get something close to 6,000 which isn't too far away from capacity.

The Galloway News Stand runs along the length of the pitch so no, you won't be behind the goal.

Here's a nice picture of it,

The Terregles Street End will not be open for this game(or any other game) It doesn't have a safety certificate.

Dundee will have all the East Stand and Queens will have all the old Main Stand and all the Portland Street End.(the terracing)

Enjoy your trip to Dumfries
