Could well be sold out by the end of the day with no general ticket sale at all! Dundee fans certainly do travel in numbers for the cup. How are the home tickets selling? Any chance of Dundee getting any more tickets is the home end doesn't sell out or is that impossible due to the layout or whatever?

Poorly :(

No chance of any more Dundee tickets. Glad to see you've come down our way for a league match

I don't think there's any chance of us getting more tickets, simply because there's no other way of providing segregation.

I could be wrong, though, and someone like Skyline Drifter will be along to correct me!

Ahem ... I think I already did ;)

You already have the whole east stand. The main stand and terrace are being used for home fans and, as you say, would have no way of being segregated off. The 'away' terrace has no safety certificate and hasnt been used for years.

Given how many you've brought to league games I dont see any problem with the allocation you've been given or any need to try and provide extra tickets.

Home end tickets aren't going well as Andy says. In fact I think we've sold precisely NIL so far on the fairly reasonable basis that not only have we not started selling them yet they haven't actually been printed yet!

They go on sale to season ticket holders on Sunday and then to voucher holders Monday and Tuesday. General sale Wednesday onward.

There's no chance of Dundee getting any more. They have the whole Galloway News Stand as it is.

Its no the easy of grounds to get to(distance wise)and we played you there this season on boxing day so your being a bit harsh.Out of interest do the other div 1 clubs bring big crowds to palmerston? Our away following in general this season has been great.

Have already got my ticket for the match. Looking forward to it as I have never been to Palmerston, so it should be interesting. Lucky to get a Dundee ticket as there was only a couple of hundred left when I phoned this morning. They don't go on general sale until tommorow, if there are any left. Were only on sale to season ticket holders or those who paid to get into the Morton game and recieved a voucher. (Dundee fans who paid to get into the Bobby Cox, South Enclosure and Main Stand)

So Dundee have so far shifted around 2,000 tickets. B)

I dont think Im being harsh at all.

And no, other clubs dont bring big away crowds to Palmerston, in general.

However, that doesnt change the fact that you are getting considerably more than you've brought for league games (apparently Dumfries moves depending on the competition) and as many as SPL clubs have had in previous seasons. Therefore, the suggestion that you might be due, or able to get, more seems pretty silly.

I never once said our allocation was anything but fair, and I think the other dundee fan was only asking the chances of getting any more if you failed to sell them all.I,m sure if it were at dens you would bring more than the 150 you bring for league games(and dundee does not move!),every club is the same with extra fans going to the bigger games. We take around 2700 to perth but if it were a quarter final probably nearer 4000 would go,we are no different from other fans.

I don't have the exact figures to hand, but Dundee's support at Palmerston is usually one of the lowest in the division. St. Johnstone have brought more than anyone else this season by quite some distance (over 700 on the first day of the season and over 400 a couple of weeks ago). Partick Thistle and Morton brought a few (I'd say around the 500 mark, but I think a few more from Greenock than Maryhill). Stirling Albion bring the fewest fans, with their comined total this season standing at under 300. Dundee are usually lucky to bring in excess of 200-250, roughly on a par with Clyde and Hamilton Accies, but a few more than Livingston possibly.

I'm sure they'll be someone along in a minute to provide you with more accurate statistics.

However, fair play if you manage to sell your allocation. I think we'll manage to sell out as well, but we'll have a better idea by this time next week.

I agree with you. A few years back, we took in excess of 3000 to Motherwell for a last 16 cup tie. I'm sure if the situation had been reversed, we could bring 2000 to Dundee, though the Tayside police and over-zealous stewarding might put a few off from travelling.

PS Dumfries is not that far away!

Its not our fault about the police and stewards,in fact I agree and its a shame some fans dont go because of this.

I wont argue with any of that, but I think you misunderstood my point.

Your allocation is 10 times that of your 'normal' support, apparently, and 1/3rd of the overall capacity. You've sold it, which is fantastic, but to suggest that you maybe should have some more is pretty ridiculous - even if it was just an innocent question.

I think a few QoS fans are being a bit overly critical of our away support.

Since we came down of the 7 times we've played at Palmerston only 3 were played on a Saturday at 3pm. Two of these were meaningless end of season affairs.

I for one have never been to Palmerston but I will be making the effort for this one.

I can't believe that this game has been made all-ticket. I know it's the quarter final of the Cup but I don't think it will attract a full house. There were only 1980 at the Boxing day match and 3926 at the last match at Dens Park. I can't see the attendance topping 4000 or 5000.

Another thing - why are they charging £18 when it is 2 First Division teams? I thought they only put the prices up when you play a Premier League team. I think they should only be charging League prices, ie. £15.

Dundee have been allocated 2200 tickets of which there are only 300 or so left at the time of sending this. Queens could easily sell more than that to their home support. I imagine a few ex Gretna fans will be tempted to come given the current state of affairs at Raydale Park. I for one do not mind paying £18 for a ticket. If we get through to the semis it will be well worth it.

Can I let you into a secret? I absolutely detest threads and petty arguments about crowd size and never get involved in them. However, I don't think anyone is being critical as such. It's only natural a few Dundee fans will come out the woodwork for a big cup match. Hope you have an enjoyable day in Dumfries - until 3pm. ;)

The entire East Stand, i.e. 2200 or thereabouts. By all accounts, they could have sold a fair few more, however.

No chance of any more Dundee tickets. Glad to see you've come down our way for a league match

I live in Asia so i wont be there whether it's at Palmerston, Dens or Hampden. Like the vast majority of football fans, i would generally only go to the home games anyway but for cup games i would travel. Most clubs only take less than 10% of their home support to away games in the league. An away game in Dumfries probably means leaving Dundee at 10am to get to Dumfries for around 1? Get something to eat then head to the match. Probably get home at again at 8 or 9pm. I would simply not spend 11 hours of my weekend to watch a run of the mill league game against anybody.

As for the tickets, i only meant if QOTS really struggled to shift them, maybe Dundee would get 300 more or something. I dont know the setup of your stadium. Im not saying we bring that support normally, but this is Scottish Cup quarter finals. It gets Dundee fans excited and willing to travel, i would expect it would do the same for Queens fans, possibly even more so considering you havent been to a semi-final in a long time?

Scottish cup or not, you've still got an entire stand which makes up 1/3 of the stadium all to yourselves, surely thats enough? No SPL team, even the OF, would have been given any more tickets than Dundee have.

Just for the record, Im not having a go at Dundees away support, or criticising it and I think its great that theyre on track to sell all their tickets. I just dont see any justification in asking if there might be more.

Surely there would be justification if Queens don't sell out and we could have

I'm only kidding. Purely for segregation issues this could never happen, could it?

Do away teams ever get to use part of the terracing??

If Queens make it to the semi-final or even better the final itself how many of these so-called Gretna fans will suddenly claim to be lifelong Queens fans. :1eye
