Sorry for posting this so early, but I couldn't wait and besides it is a quarter-final tie :D

I think this game will be all ticket as it sure to create a huge interest in the
Dumfries area and with all the bookings and sending offs, Queens will have a great chance as the Dees will have a weakened team :o

Queens 3 Dundee 1

Attendance 6,200

Queens always, Queens for ever and Queens through and through.

Should be an absolute cracker with a good chance of reaching the semis. :D

Dundee missing Kevin MacDonald too. :D

I'll be going e/w on Queens to win the Cup in the morning.

Celtic and Rangers will (most likely) be in the semi-finals but Queens should be favourites against Dundee all things considered and none of the other four should scare them so it all comes down to avoiding the Old Firm. I imagine they'll be 40/1 at least, so it's worth a few quid IMO.

True, but our team was also weekened v Motherwell tonight. We were minus two of our new strikers, Colin McMenamin and Antoine-Curier (even though they were cup tied). It just shows how much we miss them, as it was our midfielders who again scored the goals to give us the win.

I agree though, that our team will be more weekened against QOS in the quarter finals, however, I'm confident of us progressing to the next round, although I think it will take a replay to settle this tie.

QOS 1 - 1 Dundee

Dundee 3 - 2 QOS (Will be plenty of goals but I think we will sneak it. The return of MacDonald and McKenzie will be a big boost in this game).

Definitely can't see us winning down there with a weakened side. Probably wouldn't fancy us at full strength.

Best chance is to get a draw and get them back to Dens.

Well it's certainly opened things up. I won't pretend otherwise, I was hoping Motherwell won. It would have been a much more interesting fixture and I fancied our chances. They wouldn't really have known what they were heading into. It would also have been a near certain sell out. I'm not sure that Dundee here will be, though you never know.

Dundee will obviously fancy their chances of the semi finals again (they've played at least two in the last five years I think). We haven't made one for 58 years though. What a chance this is!

Dundee will be without McDonald and McKenzie and obviously McMenamin and Antoine-Curier will remain cup tied. We have all our squad eligible. We've also beaten Dundee twice in the last 7 weeks and will have home advantage. However, Dundee will be right up for revenge for those two defeats, which both carried a bit of good fortune, and also the fact that we knocked them out last season in a replay at Palmerston on penalties. I do fear the worst if we have to go up to Dens for a midweek replay. I think if we are to win we'll need to do it at the first time of asking.

What do Dundee fans (realistically) think they'd bring to the tie in terms of support? The maximum they'd potentially get is 2,200 tickets. Would they need that many? Will be interesting to see if the tie is even all ticket. Motherwell certainly would have been. Not sure this will. Will it capture the imagination the same way? It just might. There's a massive latent support down here who have shown before their willingness to come out when there is something worthwhile to see. Presumably need to make the decisions this week and we'll be talking to Dundee about it obviously.

Looking forward to it anyway. :D

Totally buzzing for this, very very good chance of the semis. If we can keep up the good form we will have a class chance of it.

Sky Bet are offering us at 66-1 tonight, in from 400-1 before the Morton tie and 250-1 before Dundee knocked out Motherwell. 1/3rd the odds for an each way place.

Ladbrokes still have us available tonight at 80-1 with also 1/3rd odds for a place.

Hills don't appear to have a coupon available for the outright competition win at the moment.

Irritatingly SkyBet have Dundee 25-1 and Ladbrokes have them 33-1. Very generous of them but I don't really see an awful lot of justification for Dundee being so much shorter priced than us. I was also pretty irritated that Morton were a shorter price than us to win it when they still had Gretna to play and we were already through waiting and had beaten them 3-0 a week earlier. Bookies consistently underestimate us. Also why we often do well in the handicap leagues.

Well done, Dundee. That's a tremendous result tonight. Looking forward to the clash at Palmerston already.

Hope you bring a goodly number and that we can get the slothful of Dumfries out of their armchairs to create a bit of atmosphere.

MacDonald's two yellows were a joke. I'm not sure if two yellows can be appealed, however. I hope they can and are. McKenzie's were too, but only with dark blue glasses, I suppose.

Good to know there will be first division representation in the semis for certain. May the best team win. Ideally, us, of course.

I think we were given, and sold, over 3000 for the SC quarter-final versus Hamilton in 2006 and then had about 7-8k at Dens for the, admittedly, cut price replay. For our previous quarter final against Falkirk Brockville was packed and Dundee tickets were almost impossible to come by for non season holders. Our large sleeping support should hopefully see us sell any allocation you give us.
"Dundee was the best, it was my second home," Nemsadze said. "I loved it very much. Georgians and Scots both have the same kind of character. They are all very warm people. Scotland will always be my second home. I was there for three-and-a-half years. For me, my best moment was the chip I scored* in the derby against Dundee United."

"Lee is now at Dundee United?" an incredulous Nemsadze asked. "Ah ... he is a bad boy. He has crossed the street."

Yellow cards can't be appealed.

Alex Rae on his BBC interview is scathing about the decision to send McDonald off but says he has absolutely no complaint about the McKenzie one.

I'd have thought if you sold 3,000 to go to Hamilton you'd be able to sell 2,200 for an hour further. I'd guess that will be your allocation to be honest. ie whole of the East Stand that you usually get part of for the league games. If Dundee advise us that it will be 1,500 or less you might only get two thirds of it but anything more than that they'd have to give you all of it I'd have thought.

Not a huge away crowd tonight, but a noisy one.
A midweek game a few hours' drive away is unlikely to get a big crowd alas. But I hope we can bring a decent number to Dumfries.
And it's not going to be easy by any means, and I think we start underdogs.
As we did tonight. :-)

looking forward to a trip down your way, queens fans. i reckon we'll bring 2000+ down.

it'll be a tough game for sure. i'd be happy with a draw that would go to a replay at dens, and i think we'd win at home.

here's to a cracking quarter final.

Well done Dundee, looking forward to a good dust up at Palmerston.
Is it true that Alex Rae is trying to acquire emergency loan players to cover his suspended and cup tied players? <_<

I am pretty excited about this game which represents a great opportunity to get to the Hampden for the semi-final. Could we go one better than Gretna? :o

It's good to dream but best not to get to far ahead of ourselves. I think the game will be close to a sell out, Dundee fans will feel it's an excellent opportunity to get to the semi's again, so I am sure will bring down a lot of fans. As SD and others have spoken about, the local 'sleepers' will come out for this with a place at Hampden at stake, no doubt.

I think it will be a cracking game with plenty of goals, hopefully a repeat of the score of the last game at Dens. :)
Look at you. You're a slippery genius!

Just to add having seen the highlights now, I do think both sendings off were yellow cards. Absolutely no argument about McKenzie's one. What was he thinking? It's not like the guy was about to score, it was on the halfway line! I think McDonald's looked a dangerous tackle and not at all unlike the one Bob Harris was booked for in the first five minutes of our game on Saturday. He's a wee bit unlucky as he was clearly going for the ball and probably even got some of it but, like Harris, he came through the back of the man and certainly hit player too.

They didn't show the first yellow cards for either (and Rae was most upset about McDonald's first one) but that's fairly irrelevent. If you're on a card, no matter how bad a decision it was, you don't give the ref a chance to pull out another one.

We have shown in both our cup ties what we can do when we play so I,m confident of getting to the semi,s.True queens have beat us twice lately but in all honesty all 3 games this season have been close and lyle got sent off early in the 2nd league game.Of course we will miss McDonald and McKenzie but eddie malone will go to centre half dixon goes to left back and we play McHale and robbo in midfield so we have options.Reckon we will sell out our allocation if its 2000-2500 so should be a good crowd and a good game.No making a prediction and I think the bookies will see it as a 50-50.

Yep, I'd take a 3-2 away victory as well ;) :P

I can see the game being all-ticket, and I presume Dundee will be able to get the whole of that stand if needs be?

Should also have a decent amount of highlights on Sportscene. They can show up to three 'featured' games and it just so happens Aberdeen v Celtic has been bumped to the Sunday :D
