Its not an exaggeration. I know about the galaxys forming millions of years after but the matter and debris that came to form those galaxies were spread out billions of light years in all directions in yip a fraction of a second.

Out of interest, how does anyone actually know this ? No-one was there. Also it's a theory that some people have without much evidence to back it up.

There was theories about the creation of the planet and the stars a few hundred years ago (God and all his creations etc.) and since then that has been poo-pooed.
So what's to say that in another 500-1000 years or so the human race looks to the big bang for insperation, while another set of "scientists" come up with some other theory.

p.s. I don't discount the theory. I just don't see an awful lot of proof to back it up.

You dont have to be there to know it. They work it out measureing the speed, volocity and gravity in certain parts of the universe.

Bing Bang theory is as close to reality as it will ever get, in the next 1,000 years scientists will discover other things such as dark matter. All this will do is piece together the big bang theory, not really contradict it.

there is still a shitload to be found it, but everything they know about the big bang is true. There is certain aspects like HOW it exploded or expanded. That might never be known, but what is known is that everything was created a fixed length of time ago. The universe is not a steady-state infinate place.
