Does anyone still drink Tizer these days?

I used to think it was just Irn Bru, but coloured differently for the English market.

And Red Kola - not see than for a while...

No way, nothing like Irn Bru.

I think Cruickshank's of Buckie still do Red Kola and their piece de resistance, Moray Cup. If you ever have a glass of Moray Cup wash it immediately afterwards with some industrial strength Fairy, that stuff stains like!

I think all of them are still available in glass bottles at my local chippy :D That said, I haven't had Red Kola in a wee while, and I also have a 2L bottle of Tizer in my fridge :)

Remember a few years back they had Tizer which was supposed to be 'ice cold' even if it wasnt in a fridge. Tasted bloody awful, like it had deep heat in it.

Right up there with the spicy Ribena fiasco.

They're going for natural, healthy ingredients now. It'll never work.

Both are readily available where I stay. Strike Cola as well.

But one drink that's getting harder to find is Vimto.

Does anyone remember a drink from the early to mid nineties that came in a clear 'can', was clear itself and had little things in it (looked like pick and mix sweets)?

That was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted.

A few questions:

1) What is "Moray Cup?"
2) Who actually manufactures Strike Cola?
3) Is there a diet Strike Cola?

Kinda like Red Kola. I might be wrong about Cruickshanks making it, could be Sangs of Banff who do.
You'll only really find it in chippies throughout the North, and in particular, the North East of Scotland.

I'm trying to find a picture of the bottle on the interweb but there's not many references to Moray Cup. It's part of part of Scotland's heritage!

Still about I think but obviously I doubt it's like it used to be. It used to be the highlight of the week when I was wee and the Bon Accord lorry came, you had your empties saved and mum stocked up on juice for the week. :D

I just googled it. It does appear to be Sang's, the same people responsible for the MacB waters range, the only product of theirs I've ever seen.

edit: picture, on a page saying how hard it is to find a picture - http://electriqueboutique.blogspot.com/ 200...-moray-cup.html

Looks shite tbh :(

Is Moray Cup the variety of those drinks in plastic bottles that appears to have a black man on a plantation drinking it? I never really understood the link there.

I think there might be a bit of racial stereotyping going on in that label to suggest how refreshing the drink is.

I might use this as an excuse to go to the chippy tonight and get some, I'm sure the label is different now. That one looks very classy indeed though!

I've just been and got one and they haven't changed it!!

I'm not sure how to explain the taste... a bit like American cream soda I suppose. 69p for a litre bottle is pretty good, although I shudder to think how much sugar is in it!

That is shocking. Has anyone ever seen Ghostworld? It's like the sort of thing Steve Buscemi's character would have in his collection of dodgy ad boards.

The kinda strange thing is that don't appear to even be drinking it... whatever they've got is a lot more orange than red. I also like how they've got two men in the picture and all they've done is flip the picture of the guy to get the one on the right... they all look the same I suppose.

Yeah, I remember that, its was bogging! Trying to remember the name of it, "clear....something". My dad bought a bottle of tizer over christmas, it looks crap now, I actually thought it was imitation own brand stuff till I got a closer look at the bottle.

CP is correct. Strike Cola is made by Barr's. I don't think there is a diet version although I'm not 100% sure.

Remember it well but then at the end it was a load of chancers in a private lorry who got really aggressive if you didn't buy loads of bottles every week so my folks fucked them off.
