Okay I stopped smoking around 3 weeks ago.

There are two problems since I stopped;

- Everytime I start drinking down the pub I am absolutely CHOKING for a fag.
- My Appetitie has went through the fecking roof and I fear I may become obese :lol:

Has anyone else stopped smoking and have any tips on overcoming these problems?

My Grandad's pal decided to give up smoking to save on money. Managed to do it by chewing gum but now spends more on the gum than he did on the fags and is completly addicted :lol:

You will need to do some form of exercise as your metabolism will slow right down. Meaning you wont burn up as much calories in turn gaining weight.
I went from 13 stone to 17stone a year after stopped smoking. I bought a bike and I'm now anything from 14 to 15 stone.

A sensible diet in eating lots of fruit and fresh vegetables will help you from putting on weight.

Keep at it. Since I have stopped smoking I don't catch as many colds and flu and have gained more energy. The biggest thing I noticed was how much more time I had. You don't realize how much time smoking becomes a part of your life.

Well done mate keep it up.

Nicotine gum helped me with the weight gain. I've stopped twice (for about 6 months) over the past few years. The first time time I gained about 1 1/2 stonedue to constant eating.

The next time I stopped I used Nicorette gum and after about 6 months my weight was about the same.

Two words....

ALLEN CARR

Get his easyway to stop smoking book. My wife was a heavy smoker, read the book, and 3 years later, hasn't looked back. No weight gain, no misery, still drinks, she's looking healthier, and she feels great. Between myself and my wife, we've managed to help two friends also stop. One used his book, and one used his DVD!

The NHS want you to spend money on patches/gums, but this book is £8, and that will be you sorted!

The thing I don't get is the people who refuse to consider stopping smoking because "it's the only pleasure I have"

Hello! If you didn't shell out £40 per week on fags there are plenty other useful activities you could indulge in.
