because they are bitterly embarrassed at their moorish heritage.....they seem to think they are hoity toity nothern europeans and can't cope with their sallow skin and brown eyes.

Same with Italians.......mental fuckers!

It's far worse there than it is there, and it's not helped by the fact that a segment of the media either turns a blind eye to it or reports it with a sort of "boys will be boys" indulgence.

It ain't just the south*, either. I can't remember what book it was I was reading but there was a guy being shown around Moscow by a very highly-educated Russian, who swept his hand across the vista of Red Square or something and said, "As you can see, we have hardly any niggers here" to his guest whom he barely knew.

*south of europe, not italy, i see i didn't phrase that well.

Also, I have nothing racist to say about Spanish referee Perez Burrull, and I doubt he's a racist, but since we're in a topic about Spain and he just denied Getafe an absolute, bona-fide, 110% stonewall penalty I'm going to call him a c**t anyway.

In Spain they think nothing of outright open racism, They have a wierd notion of superiority.

South Americans and Blacks get the worst of it.

The really funny thing is ex-pats joining in the complaints about too many foreigners.

Perhaps if Mcfarlane had nookie on the park with him he would win more headers, or at least his raised bear hand would...and the bear could get booked for talking back to the ref....wasn't me Mr Ref..it was the bear!

Imagine someone getting away with dressing like this in Britain! The fact that everybody around turn a blind eye, and they can get to the circuit and through the turnstyles dressed like this is unbelievable, never mind stand there and shout abuse in front of stewards! There not exactly trying to hide their racism.

What the f**k would possess anyone to 1) think that's funny and 2) actually do it?

"Ha ha, his family's black!"

I mean... what the f**k?

I read a few weeks ago that two prominent Spanish tennis players who were competing at the Shanghai open did the "slitty eyes" thing for a newspaper interview back home.

Circuit boss is trying to downplay it: http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/64987

Fact is, ten is ten too many - and everyone else seemed to ignore it.

It's also ignorant - I'm fairly sure Hamilton's mother or step mother (or both) are actually white.

End of the first paragraph (paraphrased):

"The insults and gestures against Lewis Hamilton last Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya, which had already taken place also in Jerez and Valencia, have been used in England to begin a campaign against a fanbase that, barring some undesirables, was exquisite all wekend."

I looked at that picture earlier and knew something wasn't spelt correctly but just couldn't put my finger on it. Now I've got it :)

Rather than sweeping it under the carpet as always, like the Spanish! They are unbelievable.

Aye they are. I remember good old Jon Gaunt telling us how Hamilton is a white superstar as well because he's half white. What a load of shite though. His colour shouldnt even be mentioned.

I remember after the England racism incident it was similarly treated (albeit by the Madrid press.)

This country has a lot of problems, and racism is still an issue here, but by god Spain's a mess when it comes to such things. The fact that that paragraph is toned with a sort of "well THEY brought it up" huffiness says it all. I think a lot of people, even those who are nominally against it, don't really see much wrong with it.

It's pretty ironic as well as some areas of southern Spain (e.g. El Ejido, from where we get many of our traditionally summer vegetables in winter) must have as high a concentration of sub-Saharan immigrants as anywhere else in Europe.
