Credit to Elgin, they played well today with some decent performances across their team.

As for us, if there was one player you'd pick out as being a threat in the Elgin team it would be that wee Zander lad. I for one cant believe we had Gents playing against him. I dont want to be too critical of the players, for me there was a couple of them being asked to do a job they just were nt up to and for that there's only really one man to blame. Chapman was on the radio later to explain that he'd dropped both Brittain and Potter due to losing goals from full back areas against Stranraer, I'll need to take his word for it as I never travelled. What I would challenge him on is whether or not he thinks he replaced them with better players today? Our best centre back played in midfield, our best right back in midfield, a centre midfielder playing at right back and a left winger left like exposed at left back. Chappies man in the strip, and our new captain, Lennon was shouting out looking for winners when it was defenders in defence we needed.
Celtic, Falkirk, Dumbarton, Alloa. You heard it here first!

Fair comments. Really disappointed we lost today, and if I'm honest, I expected to win. Back to earth with a bump.

But, while we're gazing at our belly buttons, it would be churlish to ignore Elgin's performance. Zander Sutherland played very well indeed, and the boy O'Donoghue, who scored two, was a stand out.

The gaffer got it wrong today. He apologised afterwards on local radio and it sounded to me like, as he suggested, he was hurting.

It's not about this season anyway. This campaign ended way back in November 07, and for me the coffin nail in any hopes of a title or play-off position happened when McCabe's team lost at Borough Briggs.
The answer is yes, so, what is the question?

The keeper today was an embarrassment, the first goal was a howler from him, the 4th I have no idea why he set up the wall so poorly.

Chapman apologising at half time was no more than the fans deserved, 11 quid in to watch that shite.

Ben, I think we all went along today expecting great things, which is why it was such a gut wrenching performance and result. At least the manager had the courage and courtesy to apologise at half-time and full-time.

When I saw Craig Brittain sitting in the stand I assumed he was injured. Hopefully that's the last time Chapman will leave our most loyal, reliable player out of his starting eleven.

Although I rate Crawford as a better keeper than Nugent, it's time Anton was given a chance. If nothing else it will give DC a wake-up call.

Positives (if any) to take from today?

Lennon looked composed in almost everything he did. He'll be a great addition once he has better quality & organisation around him. Mark Canning also looked very solid. Mackie looked promising during his short spell on the pitch. After those 2-3 I'm struggling to give pass marks.

But the main positive for the future is that all four goals could have been easily avoided. I was talking to an Elgin director after the game and he said the score could easily have been 5-5! They scored with practically every shot on target (other than Crawford's one good save) and we had numerous shots cleared off the line and hit the post.

If we play with an in-form, confident keeper playing behind our best back four and a bit of organisation elsewhere in the team then we're not too far away from turning the corner. But the rest the season is now experimental in preparation for next.

Finally, fair play to Elgin. As others have noted, their two wingers were outstanding today and they are the most improved team I've seen since the first round of games.

Quite right it's about building for next season . In any case some of the comments on here are just childish and wide of the mark. In the first half there wasn't a great deal between the teams and Sons didn't play that badly First goal was a fluke, second a soft penalty and third just awful defending. Sons had as many if not more chances and played some decent stuff to create those chances. Chapman is trying things out with different players and while I certainly didn't expect today's result I'm not too disappointed as things are undoubtedly going in the right direction. The signings to date look promising and the second half of the season will soon let Chapman know where else in the team needs improved and who else needs to go. Some Sons fans today obviously expected an instant turnaround in our fortunes and that simply isn't going to happen. If we're still in this position in a years time criticise Chapman then but in the meantime give it a rest until he has a bit of time to do the job
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me ?

Poor organisation at the back and big crawford selling the jerseys didnt help much.

Im confident we will improve as i think we have the players to do so, we just need them to find their feet and get used to how the other players play.

Tbh Elgin were very, very Lucky they didnt have a single good goal most of them pretty jammy, but the luck went for them on the day. Let hope things get much better.
