A lot less paid than EOS players. Teams such as Fleet Star, Mids, Dumfries they wont be paying there players much if anything

I think you,ll find more clubs than that are not paying money, my point is this all the money that is paid to players is lost to the clubs. Money spent on improving the fabric of the club is an investment, players will want to play at clubs with the best facilities. We all know that certain club facilities bring out more moans from the players than others.

Fleet Star players get travelling expenses and thats it. The thing is though with all the teams that are supposed to pay out money for win bonuses etc it would be very interesting to see just who signed for them if their was no money avaliable???

Even with a £10,000 handout the club still wouldn't go down the line of paying players. The £10,00 would of done nicely to extend the changing rooms which is needed!!

Surley that would be up to the council to upgrade the changing rooms? As far as i am aware it is a public park is it not? Garries park can be used by any one, they only have to pay for the changing rooms if they want to use them. Why would Fleet Star want to pay to upgrade changing rooms that any one can use

Creetown had a lot of good players even b4 they started getting a win bonus that could of gone to the likes of tarff for the money. Marty Herries, Dec Cluckie, Andy Houston, Rab Davidson, Marty/Gary/Alan McClymount, Keith Kennedy to name but a few

Its not the member clubs fault that they got the money , anybody being given money will quite rightly take it. But by giving the money to some teams and not others it distorts the league, can you imagine say the top 6 teams in the league being given money and the rest get nothing. All this would do is the same teams would win all the trophies all the time.If the money was spread out evenly it would give all teams the chance to improve. There was nothing stoping the SFA giving the money to the leagues, after all what member clubs knew they were entitiled to a share in the profits made from the national team. B)

Well it's a difficult one this. Gatehouse Trust actually own Garries Park which to my knowledge was set up by the late Mrs Murray Usher. The Council keep the upgrade of the park including the pitch. FleetStar have the pitch booked throughout the whole season. The changing rooms though were paid for by Fleetstar with the permission of the Gatehouse trust. The changing rooms belong to the club and know one else which means if any other organisation wanted to use them for anything they have to ask the club and not the council as they have nothing to do with them.

My debut in the SOS, a good few years ago, only came about as the lad meant to play in goals had been lifted the night before. I`d only went into the house to get my gloves for a kickabout when the phone went, asking if I`d be interested in playing the game. Was only 16, hadn`t even trained with the club, the guy picking me up never knew my name and to make matters worse the game was already underway when I arrived. IIRC it was against Stranraer.

Neither they should a lot of players in the SOS get paid for being average at best which makes them think they are far better than what they are which is why we get some really poor teams.

Speaking of funny stories we once left big Ross Milligan at Abbington services after he had gone for a shit but didn`t realise until we were almost in Dumfries that he hadn`t got back on the bus!
