Haviing watched all series of The Sopranos and being up to date with Prison Break i am now looking for a new show to get into. I don't watch the shows when they are on Tv, I buy the DVD's so it doesnt matter if the show has been out for a while.
Am open to any suggestions?

Start off with the Wire as it's the greatest television programme ever created. Then move on to the Shield then finish off with 24. I envy you with all those hours of wonderful television ahead
Can anybody make some recommendations for myself? I too like to buy the DVD boxsets and so far have ploughed my way through The Wire, 24, Prison Break, The Shield, Teachers, Curb Your Enthuiasm & The Sopranos. I'm kind of desperate for another fix of television heaven.

Lost is drivel and I just couldn't get into the West Wing. I did only watch a couple of episodes so it might be something to go back to.
Somebody recommended Oz to me. Has anybody seen this?

Agreed, love it. Always try to Sky+ the older episodes when I see they are on. The burd Tony bangs in Series 4/5 (the art dealer that was banging Ralph) is fantastic.

Correct on both counts mate
I think Prison Break is now getting back to its best. Lost the spark a bit in series 2 but it was always going to be hard to follow series 1 and the fact they had 9 or 10 stroylines to carry on as well made it hard to recreate the chemistry of series 1 I think.
Am I alone in being slightly dissappointed by the final Sopranos episode??

Adam loves it. I hate all those American, hour-long drama series - Lost, 24, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, The Sopranos, The West Wing - I generally can't watch any of them without slowly going insane, however I didn't think Oz was too bad. If you're into all those types of series (I lump them all together because they're all the same to me), then yes, I'd suggest giving Oz a go.

I think that Oz started well but got a bit silly. I watched the first series when it was on C4 about ten years ago and it was good, atlhough the last episode I remember seeing involved prisoners being used as test patients for a drug which caused premature aging, it was daft. Having said that there are about five series, so season one is probably worth a punt.
The Wire is fantastic asSpanky Shengus says - you do need to put a bit of effort into it though. It's not something you can watch without full concentration or dip in and out of. I also found understanding what the hell some of the characters say a problem, mainly to do with the authentic Baltimore accents I think. The first season starts slowly but by about episode nine or ten it's gripping, stay up until 3am on a schoolnight style stuff.
The Wire is fantastic as

I was a big fan of Six Feet Under. The quality took a slight dip in the middle when the opening deaths became unrelated to the episode that followed but overall a great piece of television. And there's plenty of episodes for you to get your teeth into.

As has been suggested the WIre and the Shield are both excelent. The wire especially so, the 5th season has just come out and it'll be the last but the whole lot is good quality and well written to boot.
One day alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter. - Lewis Carroll

The worst Week of My Life and subsequest series is without doubt one of the most under rated series on Tv in the past decade...it was genius..right up there with Jeeves and Wooster...
seriously watch it through....it's right god.

Was going to mention that myself as an example of yet another quality American drama. Agree that there was a dip in quality, and that the fact it was set in a funeral parlour became increasingly unimportant as the show went on, but it was a fine television programme. Wasn't mad keen on the final scene though.
