Apologies if this has been covered before (but I couldn't find it so sue me) but has there been any decision whether the Wee Vers are moving yet? (I know there was an AGM in November and was wondering what the script was)
Come on the Chiefs/Dodgers/Arabs/Warriors/ Galaxy (all are equally loved in my book, the Scottish Claymores would be there but they are no longer!)

From their web site it appears it was kicked into touch.

Yup, it was the local paper making far more of a throw-away comment from our chairman than was warranted.

But hey, any publicity is good publicity....isn't it?

Did you get any more support from the Coatbrigands?

The fine people of Coatbridge are too busy supporting the Old Firm to give a feck what's happening at Cliftonhill. Maybe we should change our colours to green and white and our name to Coatbridge Celtics and maybe we'd get more fans.

That's a tad defeatist Al !

EK being mentioned did raise the profile of the club somewhat but is certainly a non-starter.
Albion Rovers directory enquiries 118821 . Just 41p per call from a BT line.

A substantial amount of the proceeds go to Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust

Al, thats a sad fact in every town in Scotland mate, I like the Wee Rovers cause they serve a unique purpose in Scottish Football. Admittidly Cliftonhill is not the best but it oozes character (really cauld as well!) I would hate for lanarkshire to lose that. As well as that it's only a tenner to get in to the Rovers. I liked the fact you guys appeared at the fair day selling the Rovers stuff and promoting the season books. I think the death knell in Coatbridge is when they opened a Celtic shop opposite ASDA.

Do you guys still do the posters in pubs?

Have you considered reaching out to the new Polish folks in the community? (a body in the crowd is another 10 quid in the coffers)

Try reaching out to the folks in Bellshill, only a 20 minute bus ride on the 201 and they have no senior club.

Just a few ideas. I think a move out of the Brig would be the end for the Vers and that in itself would be criminal

I have liked Cliftonhill on the few occasions I've visited (last time was when the Well were playing in the Scottish Cup on the Wednesday due to TV)

The only problem is maintaining fans , lets face it the entertainment value is not great. But the atmosphere of lower league games is unique and thats what attracts so many fans to Scottish Cup Third Round Day (aye I know its now the fourth).

Basically what I'm getting at is , while its a nice wee change. It lacks the long term appeal to most.

Sad but true. Coatbridge is a massive place but interest in the Rovers is minimal. Yet the other Lanarkshire clubs have all enjoyed big successes over the last 30 years, why were the Rovers always stuck in the doldrums? Poor ground? Lack of identity with home town? Tam Fagin just a tight b*****d?

Actually from the experience of recent years not really. Yes, it gets you mentioned a lot but thats not a good thing if its a constant piss taking excercise or pointing out failings - this simply reinforces the fact you are crap to a wider audience. Publicity is only good if it has something decent to say about you (or at least nothing negative).
