Some superb quotes from that article:
Quote
Our fans should maybe change their anthem to ‘We only boo when we’re winning,’
Quote
If we are winning 2-0 at Cappielow on Saturday and make it three in the last five minutes, then I will be the first to stand up and start booing.
Quote
For home games, I will maybe have a word with the match announcer with a view to changing our background music for every time we score.
Quote
Instead of something upbeat when a goal goes in, we could always look at playing a chorus of boos.

Agree some of the fans at dens are a joke with their booing and negative shouting at players but his comments generalise the whole support which is wrong. We have the biggest support in the league and surely he should have mentioned that in his comments,we average well over 4000 at games and yet he feels free to comment on a minority, I find it incredible after what the fans have done for our club.

I actually agree with DM. A team should never be booed even when they are losing never mind when there winning! As long as the team are putting in the effort thats all you can ask.
A small minority of the dundee support always boo and are critical of the team, always have, always will. Of course, it doesnt help anyone, but they still do it.
Constructive criticism and encouraging players is certainly something that Dundee fans dont do enough of.

If people would care to read the full article before jumping to conclusions:
So he was quite clearly targeting only those who booed and if the Courier couldn't see it fit to include that in his actual quotes, then that's their fault.
Quote
DUNDEE CHIEF executive Dave MacKinnon has fired an astonishing verbal volley at his own club’s boo boys.
Despite securing a 3-1 home win over Stirling Albion on Saturday—a result that moved them level on points with first division leaders Hamilton Accies—the Dark Blues were barracked by a section of their support.
MacKinnon has clearly had enough of the criticism and last night launched a salvo at those responsible.

He must feel that it's a majority section though. Put the quotes in bold all you want, but the only reason he's saying "sections" is so as he can get away with it.
Yeah, I know, he's kidding, but you can tell there's blatant bitterness there. And in any case, this is another example of a chairman taking his frustration out on people who are lining his pockets.
Quote
“Our fans should maybe change their anthem to ‘We only boo when we’re winning,’ ” he said.
“They are always ahead of the game so that might even start a trend in Scottish football.
“You never know, it might even get us featured on (the TV programme) Soccer AM.
“If we are winning 2-0 at Cappielow on Saturday and make it three in the last five minutes, then I will be the first to stand up and start booing.
“For home games, I will maybe have a word with the match announcer with a view to changing our background music for every time we score.
“Instead of something upbeat when a goal goes in, we could always look at playing a chorus of boos.
“I would accept being 3-0 up with five minutes to go in every game and getting booed.”

Not sure if I could do that but I could pick the one that isn't a chairman.
Good on Dave MacKinnon I say and I'm sure the majority of the Dundee support will be equally as fed up with the boo boys. It's something that never used to happen as regularly. Any week, without fail, at McDiarmid Park when we aren't winning at half-time, a chorus of boos ring out, whatever the level of performance in the first half.
Fascists against Beatson.

If you read the article again it is the reporter who is saying these comments when quoted he only mentions the clubs fans.I agree the booing is a joke sometime but it is a small minority.

There would be no need for the reporter to mention it only being a section if DMcK hadn't done it.
I'm starting to wonder if the biggest culprits are actually posting in this thread (not you).

So MacKinnon was misquoted by the Courier, but the Courier also took pains to ensure that it was those responsible who were targeted?

Never mind the booing, McKinnon should be speaking out against the sectarian singing from the Dundee support.

He was actually mis-quoted by the Daily Ranger, with the Courier then 'stealing' the article. Apparently he spoke to the reporter (Euan McArthur) because he wasn't happy at being misquoted.
I believe him.
