Stranraer got the three points in the end up but it was far from impressive. Some Stranraer fans still seem intent on insisting that Britton must be doing okay because we are second in this truly awful league. Most folk were moaning throughout the game as Stranraer struggled against a sub standard East Stirling team. We got a goal at the end but we were hardly laying siege to the East stirling goal at the time. Am all for backing the team and there is nothing worse than folk who constantly criticise - but anyone who stood up at the end of that game and praised the team is kidding themselves on that things are ok IMO. If your happy with todays events you really don't have very high expectations for our club.

We ain't a big club and we have been punching above our weight over the last decade - surely we have not slumped this far though. There is clearly a lack of direction and motivation across the board. Britton and Ferguson just ain't the men to raise our profile again and get folk back to Stair Park. Crowds will remain low regardless (even Watt and Millar struggled in this respect) but getting rid of these two would probably bring back at least around 100 fans IMO.

Stranraer do play some neat football at times. Most of the players are half decent on the ball but we really miss a decent goalscorer and a couple of players with a physical prescence and the will to win. I know these players don't come on trees but looking good is this league is hardly the most difficult of tasks. There was some talk on here recently with Stranraer fans claiming we were the best football team in the league. That simply ain't true - East Fife are clearly the best football team. Stranraer were unfairly criticised for their style of play when sucessful under Neil Watt. East Fife are now being subjected to the same type of nonsense.

Back to the game. I thought Tade hade a good game and offered us something different. A few real quality moments from the man in red boots. Stewart looks like a reasonable prospect and McLaughlin has been a good signing. Black had a cracking save at the end and deserves credit for that. Apart from that the rest were mediocre at best. East Stirling will probably feel hard done by but on todays evidence I reckon Rangers will get somewhere between 7 and 10 goals against them. Only the poor quality of our team spared them.

People at the club are working hard and deserve credit for this. There have been some good recent additions to the committee voted on and there are others without blazers who are doing a power of work as well. One small point before I sign off from this rather lengthy post! Not sure who was the culprit but whoever was criticising the tannoy announcer should hang his head in shame. The person is question seemed to be doing a good job from where I was sitting - most certainly in comparison to what we had to put up with a few years back!

I'll take a risk the now, and say we were robbed of a point, if not 3 there by the referee, who seemed somewhat biased to the blues. If anyone can give the referee's reasoning for disallowing that goal, i'd be all ears. And if there is going to be segregation because 1 arsehole didn't like us standing behind the goal, and we get told to move after the game is started, at least make sure you do it before the game, and give the police the correct information next time, as they even told us it was a non-segregated game.

Anyway, now that i've got that off my chest, wasn't a brilliant game of football. Bad conditions (bloody cold wind) and barely anyone at the ground. I actually felt sorry for Stranraer seeing that home attendance. I know you guys go on about how Gerry is killing you lot, but i didn't think so few of you would have turned out. Our goal was a bit of a blur to me to be honest, was just making my way to the goals and chatting away to someone when it went it. Shire seemed really up for the game at the start, but then Stranraer finally got into gear and started showing why they are 2nd. I don't think many Stranraer fans would have been dissapointed with a draw there, but you got very, very lucky at the end. A draw was a fair result IMO.

Again, Tade played a blinder against us, and was by far the only Stranraer player who sticks out in my mind of making any impression, except Stranraer's goalkeeper who, quite frankly, was a w**ker, and hence got a fair bit of abuse the second half.

However on my first trip down to Stranraer for football purposes, apart from the above greviances, was actually a good day out. Could have done with some sunshine though. And less wind.

It's honestly a shame that the people in that town can't get behind the team. I saw more Rangers/Celtic tops/jackets/tammys etc than your items.

Good roll and sausage though, was amazed at the sheer size of it!

As they say Tucker, This is a results game, the football might not be the best but thats what you get in the 3rd division. What would you say if Newtown Stewart were 2nd in the table but not playing the best football?

Same everywhere... Scottish lower league football is moribund compared to English because Celtic and Rangers suck resource out of other teams. In any other industry there would be a Monopolies Commission investigation, which would probably lead to the Old Firm being broken up as businesses for being overly dominant.

I can see where you are coming from mate but I don't think its a like for like comparison.

Newton Stewart have played in the South league all their years - there is only only division in it. So the poorest 25% of teams at our level don't play amongst themselves. Previous to us taking over Newton were the league's whipping boys. Our finances, reputation and facilities are poor in comparison to a lot of teams in the same league. So if we were sitting second top it would be a decent achievement even if we were not playing the best football.

Stranraer are playing in a league below where they have generally competed in the last decade or so. The league is widely recognised as being poor this season. Despite money being at a premuim we still have quiet a lot to offer in comparison to clubs like East Stirling, Albion Rovers, Forfar & Elgin etc. Stranraer started the season off as one of the favourites as well. It really would be pretty difficult for even Britton to struggle in this league. The opposition is far poorer than any of our recent SFC teams have faced and because of that I just don't feel Britton should be seen to be doing a great job. A lot of other SFC fans feel the same way.

The ref managed to rile both sets of supporters,he started well but went downhill very quickly.We were a wee bit lucky with the disallowed "goal",but we had players booked/fouls given for tackles that went unpunish for the opposition.

Great to see a healthy wee crowd of visiting fans,I felt they were in good spirits and great banter.

A wee funny moment when the ES fans that arrived late refused to believe they were 1-0 up,they wouldn't have it at all,though I was takin' the p*ss.They obviously didn't expect much from the game

Well, it didn't seem to be exactly a classic performance, but I do feel that it was a decent recovery from the the 6-0 Cup drubbing the week before.

Seems fairly clear that you want Britton and Ferguson out , and that no matter what the team does you'll turn it round to suit your own angle.

I'd certainly like to see a managerial comment on the 0-6 performance at the Stranraer site. However, mostly what I see of the team this year is that when they go behind they don't just roll over as happened so many times last season.
