I'll happily accept 90 minutes of anti-football with a few dives and a couple of goals from the gers.
Bring them on, hopefully Barca beat Lyon aswell :D

I'll take 0-0 and hope that Lyon dont shock Barca who still technically need a point to guarantee qualification. I'm confident that Lyon won't beat us at the Brox.

I think we'll get through this with a, marginal, victory.
I don't think going into the last match, against Lyon, needing any sort of result to go through would be a good idea.Hopefully Barca can do the business in France.

There is no one on earth who can possibly be able for to gainsay
But that William McGonagall, poet and tragedian,
Is truly the greatest poet that was ever found above or below the meridian

I really think Rangers can win this game. Stuttgart aren't much better than Lyon, and look what happened over there. However, I reckon the most likely result is a score draw, which I won't grumble too much over.

The last two games between them suggests that they aren't better than Lyon at all, worse in fact.

Stuttgart are awful.

If r*ngers set out their 4-5-1 formation and play it as well as they can, they should be looking at either 0-0 or maybe even sneak a 1-0 win.

On another thread, someone brough up the possibility of Buffel playing, how well would be play with a congested midfield - would Smith use him to bomb forward, or as cover to further strengthen the flank?

I wouldnt throw him into a game this big.

Id go

MacGregor
Hutton Weir Cuellar Papac
Beasley Ferguson Hemdani Thomson McCulloch/Naismith
Darcheville

Throw Boyd or cousin on with 10-20 mins to go.

Looks ok, with 10/20 mins to go I'd look at bringing in Novo to play behind Darcheville and start launching the old route ones to Darcheville to knock onto Novo in a 'Douglas->Sutton->Larsson © 2002 MON Enterprises' stylee.

Well, the point was that if Rangers can get a result in Lyon, no reason why they can't get one in Stuttgart.

Reason I reckon it'll be a draw is because Stuttgart will be looking to salvage some pride from this group. They might turn it up a bit with nothing to lose.

I wouldn't say Stuttgart are awful...They have just beaten Bayern Munich 3-1 and also won 4-1 in the Bundeliga at the weekend. They played well enough at Ibrox and Rangers finished strongly to snatch a 2-1 victory. I am hoping for a draw but fearing the worst!! My biggest hope is Barcelona do the business against Lyon!! Leaving us just needing a draw against them in the last game.
4 MEN HAD A DREAM. TO START A FOOTBALL TEAM,
THEY HAD NO MONEY,NO KITS NOT EVEN A BALL.
THEY STILL CARRIED ON, THE RANGERS WERE BORN,

AFTER 54 TITLES, WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG.

But Bolton just beat Man U...

As for Novo coming on, he's out injured, and Darcheville wouldn't be much use for a flick on anyway since he's abiut 5 foot 8.

Buffel is also a lazy b*****d who doesn't track back, so wouldn't strengthen the flank as much as be a giant weak link in the side.

I reckon this has a draw written all over it. Walter will surprise nobody by playing a 4-5-1 and reminding Darcheville not to get too far forward. It will be the Smith/McLeish tactic of Hutton--->McCulloch and hope for the knock downs. I don't rate Beasley at all, although his diving may be crucial tomorrow.

Who knows, Smith might go crazy and play the most attacking tactic he knows (4-4-1-1), but I severely doubt it. I have every confidence they will grind out a result.

I will be very surprised if Rangers manage to get anything from this game. I can envisage, as others can, another backs to the wall defensive performance by Rangers but if Stuttgart get an early goal (and let’s hope they do) then that’ll be futile.

Stuttgart are certainly in a fine run of form domestically, I doubt that they will want to become only the 2nd team to finish a CL group campaign on zero points.

Stuttgart 3 Rangers 0

Mario Gomez, Stuttgart's star striker, is out for this game. As such, I think Rangers will keep a clean sheet and therefore, only need to nick one on the break to win the game.

1-0 Rangers.

Since he (Gomez) wasn't on the pitch when the 1st goal was scored you'll get your stake back.

Shame about the Stuttgart goal, but it has been coming. Rangers, even at 1-0, didn't take heed at the warnings that Stuttgart were giving for the entire first 45 minutes. Stuttgart deserve to be winning by much more. Rangers need to get their act together in defence.
