The guy who gave me a lift to the match today lives near Links Park and has been given the planning application for further improvements to the ground which are:-

A couple of floodlights are to be installed on the little training pitch.

Permanent segregation fences.

Food kiosks at the away end of the ground.

The last part should please the Lichtie travellers (no pun intended) who were moaning about food provisions last week on P &B, but I don't see the need for permanent seggy - there is only segregation against Arbroath or if we play top (or local) spl sides in the cup (last time Dundee United around 7 years ago)

Irrespective of your opinion, you can rest assured that the decision to put segregation in was entirely due to an ever-evolving governmental initiative only surpassed by security against terrorists - yes, I mean 'elf an' safety.

b*****ds - they spoil everything.
Ridin' down the highway, goin' to a show, stop in all the by-ways, playin' rock 'n' roll,
Gettin' robbed, gettin' stoned, gettin' beat up, broken boned,
Gettin' had, gettin' took, I tell you folks it's harder than it looks,
It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock''roll..
It's a long way.......such a long way....................

Permanent fences don't necessarily mean permanent segregation! They have fences at Borough Briggs but the gate is open for all to go through.

Would the fences be in the stand or would "away" fans be herded onto the terracing?
Albion Rovers directory enquiries 118821 . Just 41p per call from a BT line.

A substantial amount of the proceeds go to Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust

I haven't bought a pie at LP for years but it used to be Johnstons that supplied them and i think it may still be them now. Johnston's pies are best eaten 'oot o' the kiln' ie bought from the shop when they are still warm. In fact they don't sell reheated pies in the shop, they always have a batch just 2 minutes away from being ready.

Yeah that pisses me off. Steak pies are far superior to the cloggy Scotch pie, and yet most grounds tend to run out before the game has really started.

PIE SHOPS - ORDER MORE STEAK PIES AND LESS CLOGGY CUALGULATED (not sure if that's a word) SCOTCH PIES.

The part of the application i saw didn't state exactly where the fences would go - i would imagine opposite the stand. I would also imagine that segregation wouldn''t be enforced at every game. What i do bother about is the cost. I realise that in the first division it is required but we are two years away from that at the very least (or the very never)

Avoid the EF pies next week if your going. Trust me, they are vile B)

Thing that got me at Links park was the bloody queue. Stood there for best part of 20 mins to buy a piece of meat smelling cardboard.
Hot dog was fine mind you

Yeah, the hot dogs at Links Park are pretty good.

Just stay well clear of anything resembling a pie.

Wherever the segregation is, if they have proper fences quite close it'll mean for a better atmosphere at derby games! :)

The lunatics have taken over the asylum. Does this mean that the dog and the man have to stand in different parts ofd the ground?

Segregation, even for derbies, is bizarre. The only signs of life at any lower league games and the powers that be are determined to quash that.
Supporting Arbroath = the best of all possible worlds. Gayfield Park = stairway to heaven. The team and fans = the worst in the league, apart from all the others. Everything is rosy in our garden

thank god. i normally like mixing with the opposition fans but i've always hated getting abuse shouted at me as i walk for a pie at montrose. its not only little kids but guys who look about 40 who like to shout some of the most un-funny comments i've heard in my life.

its about time those little boys were caged off. last time we were up they had spat all over a couple of our lads flags that were tied up on the big fence behind the goal.

well two of us were told to get a haircut and yes i was the taller one. were you the fanny spitting on folks flags or one of the middle-aged men shouting at folk half their age to get haircuts then giggling amongst yourselves about it?

it's actually pretty funny that you claim i'm a fanny for needing a haircut.

I wasn't very impressed with the Montrose pie either.

Are the wooden goalposts still there?
