Well judging by the reactions today, they did anything but that.

Rangers played the way 99% of teams would going to the Nou Camp, defend for their lives and keep the score respectable.

How many teams have you ever seen go there and try to play Barcelona at their own game?

Kiev last night threw caution to the wind at 2-0 down and got thumped 4-0 going on 10.

It isn't a morale boost for the team and supporters to say the team went out and got walloped 6-0, but ah well at least you tried to score. The result will only say 6-0, not Barcelona 6, Rangers tried quite hard, but to no avail 0.

And Rangers are better than Aberdeen, that isn't in question, if Rangers had played free flowing attacking football against Barcelona the score could have been 5 or like Besiktas, 8.

This is what I dont understand ... How do you know it would have been 5 or 6? For all you know Rangers may have nicked a goal ... No-one will ever know what would have happend. I reckon some of the players will be thinking what might have been today.

Barca hardly looked solid at the back in the few times you did attack over the 2 games.

I think some are going overboard and trying to make Barcelona out to be some sort of indestructible superteam. They are far from that.

Liverpool :o I really dislike them ... Always have and I will probably never know why.

Which is quite amusing as their fans always remind me of Celtic supporters. They have that same air about them.

Who's to say that Rangers wouldn't have scored or got a result if they didn't go for it? If we all took that attitude then football would be the most boring sport on the planet.

Their attacking options are far superior to those of Rangers though.
If we had tried to attack more than we did then defensive gaps would have opened, and would have subsequently been exploited by Barcelona's front three.

Walter's tactics were spot on, in my opinion, and helped us come out of the match with dignity - we never fell apart under relentless pressure.

If Darcheville had been fully fit before the game I think that could have made a difference, but I have no complaints about the players effort.
In fact, I was once again impressed by Alan Hutton's performance and commitment.

The Rangers fans cheered their team throughout, and why not? They are within one victory of qualification and have secured a Uefa cup spot - which I would have taken immediately after the group was drawn.
Among the poets of the present day
There is no one on earth who can possibly be able for to gainsay
But that William McGonagall, poet and tragedian,
Is truly the greatest poet that was ever found above or below the meridian

Well judging on watching the entire game, Kiev were absolutely hammered.

25 shots on goal and beaten 4-0, thats not confidence inspiring.

And being 2-0 down doesn't mean you throw the gameplan out the window and just attack, attack, attack.

Any Barcelona aren't a 'indestructible' as someone said, but you don't go to the Nou Camp and play them at a slick attacking game or you will be pumped.

It just amuses me that the same people who poke fun at 11 men behind the ball would be the same folk that laughed when Rangers conceded 5 if they had a go at Barcelona.

Sometimes you just need to realise these peoples opinions are nothing but worthless attempts at provocation and move on.

Just as the same OF fans who whine about negative teams coming to Ibrox and Parkhead and parking the team bus in front of the goals make for a boring season ticket, yet when their teams do it in Europe it is to be applauded.

Which is it?

I dont whine about it ... Its a teams prerogative to try and get the points however they like .... Its down to us to break them down. I would say that when they are a couple down id expect them to open up a little.

At home, this season, they pretty much are.
Ol' Hick'ry said we could take them by surprise if we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked them in the eyes

You do the best for your own club. Falkirk and St Mirren are not there to entertain the Ibrox crowd. It is up to Rangers to find a way past. Each team should play to their own strengths. Very few Rangers players or management will be seen to criticise away teams at Ibrox in the way Messi did after the Ibrox game.

I have to say though the Barca result was a little predictable. We were not going to get hammered but they were going to find a way through eventually. It is a pity that got the early goal but that is life and we move on to Stuttgart for more of the same with hopefully more chances to hit on the break.
4 MEN HAD A DREAM. TO START A FOOTBALL TEAM,
THEY HAD NO MONEY,NO KITS NOT EVEN A BALL.
THEY STILL CARRIED ON, THE RANGERS WERE BORN,

AFTER 54 TITLES, WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG.

RiG's quite correct, ergo I wouldn't begrudge any team ranked lower than Celtic the option of going to Parkhead and playing ten behind the ball.

As much as I like hearing Celtic being talked up, we are far from an indestructible superteam!!!

Superteam? No, that's just idiotic. Indestructible... at home? In Europe? You might as well be. Your home European record's quite possibly better than Barcelona's in the last few years.

I am fairly sure we have the best home record in the history of the CL...........and the second worst away record.

Well, there you go, then. It doesn't make you Brazil 1970 by any means but only a fool would say that Celtic aren't "super" at home :P

I'll take that for a start. Let's at least aim to get less shite away form in Europe now, and hopefully actually record a win fairly soon (Milan would be nice :) )

A whole lot of if's but's and maybe's going on here, rankgers played the way most folk would have expected and let's be honest about it the way most people would have set them out if they were in charge, although barca did get pumped 2-0 last week it's a rareity (spelling). When Celtic played milan we had a go but cautiously which is what you've got to do against the big european teams!!!

It's how we should play against italy this weekend, have a go but make sure the backdoor is firmly shut!!!

COME ON SCOTLAND
