It's a great feeling not being near the bottom of any particular league structure. We need more such lists
Supporting Arbroath = the best of all possible worlds. Gayfield Park = stairway to heaven. The team and fans = the worst in the league, apart from all the others. Everything is rosy in our garden

So we have the 16th largest pitch in Scotland, and the second largest pitch in the third division.

Let's see, so Livingston deliberately went out and built a new ground with a pitch 8 yards shorter than the standard?

Go figure...
In our racing stripes, we rejoice at being "connected"
Without touching, thank god for the internet
We stare at our screens, all our lives, what a waste of eyes
'Till the electrical storm blows our fuses
And we gaze, dumbfounded, at the rain

So that means the Blue Paraguay have the smallest in Scotland. Have they never been tempted to try to make it bigger? Maybe they could get some help from somebody at Spammers United!

That would be our small 115x71yd pitch as opposed to your absolutely huge 110x70yd pitch, would it?

I was unaware that installing plastic had increased the physical dimensions of your ground.

Don't know if it has increased the dimensions but I'm sure its changed them. The playing area was shifted slightly when the plastic went down and I'd doubt the playing area is exactly the same size as previously.

The goals are certainly further away from the back wall, which would suggest the pitch has either been shrunk or shifted towards the cowshed.

The figures I gave are the ones quoted on MFC's official website. Are you suggesting that your club lie to their fans????

The info is out of date. I was led to believe the pitch was now 4 or 5 yards wider since the plastic went down, but I'll check this out.

OK, but I don't see where they got the extra 5 yards width from - the stand hasn't moved & neither has the wall on the side opposite. I don't remember a great deal of free space outside the touchlines when you still had grass.

As far as I recall (and this is ancient history), you moved the pitch towards the old stand side & toward the sea when you built the new stand.

Thats why the covered terracing at the Wellington Street end curves toward the pitch rather than round the corner of the pitch, as I seem to recall it used to. It also explains why the goals are so far away from the front step of terracing at the covered end, while you are right on top of the goalie (silly string anyone!!   ) when you are at the beach end.

Finally, if there had been room to put a standard width 75 yard pitch in, surely MFC would have done it at the time that the new stand was built?

However, feel free to put me right if I am havering. I assume that you've been at the Links far more often than I have. Maybe it looks wider if your eyes are too close together :P
