Not sure how true this is - the County fans (or Staggie Family  ) would be best placed to clarify if he did say this or not. Might just be a case of words being twisted in an interview?

Regardless, hopefully it doesn't happen.

Edited because I am a moron.

Do you think Inverness can handle the pressure of being top? I think not. Inverness will not be able to handle it.

Don't think they are saying anything most don't know, it's more or less impossible to sustain a full time outfit in div 2 and probably not easy in div 1 either, unless you have someone willing to pump a lot of their own money in to the club but even then at the end of the day most of them get pelter's from their own fans and end up disillusioned.

Seems common sense to me, I am amazed that even 1st division crowds can sustain full time football in this country, never mind 2nd division.

I'm sure serverence pay to managers doesn't help balance the books.
Here for a year, we're only here for a fourth year !!

Don't think they'll need to wory about another season in this division unless they fall away badly.

Yep, as others have said what he said last night on the radio was nothing we haven't heard before and just common sense really. The BBC are trying their hardest to make a story out of nothing really.

Just noticed this in the report...

Quote

County and manager Dick Campbell parted company in October - after his five-month spell in charge of the club came to an end.

5 months?! You get the gold watch if you last that long in charge of County.

I think that says something of the report.

I heard the interview on Radio Scotland last night, and I felt that Jim Spence was trying to put words into McGregor's mouth.

He asked if we failed to get promoted would we go part time, the answer was along the lines off that full time football is hard to sustain in the second division, and if the situation arose where we failed to get back into the first division, then a decision would have to be made. McGregor went on to say the football academy depends on a full time first team so the club is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Jim Spence then said "so you'll have to go part time".. McGregor said we haven't thought about it, we are concentrating on promotion".. Spence said "But part time would be a possibility".. McGregor "It's always a possibility, but we would have to look at that if the situation arose"

So I feel as though it was Jim Spence trying to make a story out of nothing

The Highland Academy is seperate from Ross County so how would that depend on a full-time team?

Maintaining full-time status is hard in the First, must be even more so in the Second.

At the start of the season was it not stated that county could only sustain full time football in the second division for one season?
Hence why we HAVE to gain promotion this season!

I'd just like to add and i'm sure im not alone, I never believe a word that come out of Roy McGregors mouth anyway!

Without trying to get into the whole argument about who it belongs to, I think McGregor was talking about County's Life Skills through sport and youth training schemes, and not the Highland Football Academy.
Each team that uses "The Football Academy" has their own "Academies" that use the facility.

In regards to the article, another pointless effort from the BBC. We're looking good to get back up to the first division at the moment and the larger away crowds will definetly help.

Actually, have our crowds dropped since going down a division? I dont remember seeing an attendance lower than 2000 this season at Vicky Park. Mind you, having not been able to make it up to Dingwall yet this season, and Ross County's famed exaggeration(sp?) of attendances, I'd take them with a pinch of salt.

You can take away attendances out of the equation. As Roy MacGregor said himself pre-season, the drop down a division would have a fairly negligible affect on away crowds in Dingwall with the numbers most clubs bring.

Crowds are maginally up on last season. Away fans have gone down so more home fans are turning out.

The entry fee has been reduced though (as were season ticket prices), so that may have an effect on the amount of money taken. However the away terrace is closed this season so less stewarding costs are being incured.

I also believe the hospitality is busier than last season.

Attendances have been good.Nothing like a winning side to get people out,and it must make hospitality appealing.
I expect a decent crowd for the scottish cup tie on the 24th then a good crowd for the Raith game the following week.

Pretty much a non issue story. Even if County do not go up this season, the non full time football would still be contentious. Most of the youth teams are full time, yet they get paid very little. The best players up here that play part time do so as they have other work commitments (i.e they work in the forces or off shore). The more likely outcome is they run with a majority of youth players with a sprinkling of experienced part time players. I imagine being in the industry McGregor is any player that deceides to go part time, will be sorted out with something else anyway.

Not that it matters anyway. The championship is ours.
You will retire me, but Iniesta will retire us both.

Excellent, hopefully we'll see a few goals in this game. I think should we score early it could be very comfortable. I'd imagine Whitehill will almost certainly travel north on the day of the game which should help our cause.

Once again the lack of conviction (and opinion) by members of the Staggie Family has been truely outstanding.

Highlanders opinion on the Matter.

If we dont go up this Season. We deserve to go Part-time!! The general standard of this league has been poor. Part-time Football aint going to kill, I argue it may even help the club. We would be a sort of Highland League Super club, A decent few players kick a ball in that league and i am always amazed why we dont sign more players from that side of the game. In the next three yrs Ross County will get promoted, Dont listen to your girlfriend, Size does matter and we are a First Division Club.

If we do go up. Subject closed.
