KRIS BOYD last night issued a "play me" plea to Walter Smith ahead of Wednesday's Champions League showdown in Barcelona.
The Scotland striker netted his eighth goal of the season in Rangers' 2-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle yesterday.
But he hasn't started a European clash since their first qualifier of the season against FK Zeta in July.
And with the game of their lives ahead of Gers in the Nou Camp the 24-year-old wants to play more than a bit-part. Despite fit-again him hard, the Ibrox club's top scorer said: "I want to play but obviously it's the gaffer's decision. It's a stage we all want to perform on - there is none bigger than the Nou Camp, it's a cauldron.
im not sure if kris boys should start this match, maybe Darcheville on his own or in behind cousin, id like to see him starting more SPL matches though.. what do you think?

I wouldnt start him against Barca but he definately should play more SPL games, the guy is a goal machine, i would start him every week in the league.
Against Barca i think we should got 2 up top, Darch and Cousin. We might aswell try and get into there defence. Going there and playing definsive the whole game is what they expect. We may as well have a go. Nobody expects us to win anyway so why not have a go at them.

i think we should try sending the ball up the flanks, with darche sitting deep behind cousin, try and use the pace of darche to dart up into that box for the crosses

So would every manager in the league.
Can't see Rangers attacking Barca in this game, they way the play in europe now is similar to how he National team play, 1 upfront...think its a fairly good bet they will stick with it.
If they can defend like the did at Ibrox a point is a very real possibility.

I think he should.
Along with Scott Brown he is one of the players I'm very glad is Scottish.
EDIT: Better version of Owen, Healy and Bellamy.

He's about two feet taller than any of those players. I'm a huge Kris Boyd supporter, but he is nothing like those players.

I`ve said all along. Either build the team round the fact he scores goals or bin him. Theres no mifddle way with Boyd. All he does is score goals. Its only the most important thing in football after all.
Peace will come to earth when the people have more to do with each other and governments less.

If Smith starts Boyd on Wednesday he should be taken away by men in white coats

No chance of that happening, they need a striker who can run with the ball and take the pressure off the defence for a bit and and also allow them to play on the counter, they may as well play with 10 men rather than playing Boyd.
He simply isn't good enough, SPL is his level!

Bang on
I'd punt him in a second if we got a half decent offer

That's why you're not a Football Manager
If I could play a couple of strikers in Europe and have a player that would score 30 odd goals a season in the domestic campaign then I would be absolutely laughing.

My first reaction is "no", but then I think that they could maybe sneak a goal with Boyd on the park. If the defence holds out the way it did at Ibrox, then maybe having Boyd alongside a Cousin or Darcheville isn't such a bad idea.
TEAM CENA!!!

Thing is in a game like Rangers will have against Barcelona they will be playing a man short with him playing, he can't lead the line by himself and isn't the type of player for this kind of game.
Do you know better than both McLeish & Smith if so why are you not the manager of either one of the top clubs in the country or national team manager

Boyd is a penalty box player and is fine if the team has a lot of the ball in the opposition half, but if the team is set out defensively to frustrate the opposition he is a too much of a luxury and someone a bit more mobile is called for.
