After the break we couldn't get a kick of the ball and their goal was well deserved. I didn't really see it (behind a pillar) but heard it was a f**k-up by Greacen?

It was a ball McGurn should have dealt with but before the kick was taken he chose to stand behind at least half a dozen players so he couldn't get out to deal with it.

Definitely McGurn's fault.

Eh ?....first game we played last season the Beanos equalised with a last minute penalty...Morton did not have or miss a spot kick in this match

He's thinking of our first game against Ayr in which we drew 0-0 & Weatherson hit the old Sinclair Street scoreboard with a penalty.

Now, I don't think Templeman is good enough as a goal scorer in this division. However, as a player, he can be an asset, and he was definately underused because of Stirling's play. The people in this thread that say Stirling outplayed us are absolutely right. They adapted and realised what it took to deal with us and got it sorted. Templeman had a decent chance towards the end btw, and he never took the shot.

Yesterday we needed a goal, therefore Brian Graham should have come on. He doesn't have the touch or skill of Templeman, but he is probably the best natural goalscorer at the club just now.

Templeman will end the season with 0 league goals.

As our picture shows Laurie Ellis ran past the Morton defence and had a totally free header. I'd say the defenders were equally at fault for letting him get into that position unchallenged

I can see where you're coming from Salty but there is still no way that Ellis should have had a free header in the 6 yard box.

I'm blaming Captain Calamity solely for the loss of the goal, he missed it completely, I'll give him credit where credit is due though, it's the 1st time he ain't blamed everyone else in the team for his mistake.

The marking was non-existent. But three yards out, middle of goal, from a corner...surely that's the 'keepers ball?

Blame all round for me, the team stopped playing for 20 minutes, the goal had been coming.

That's shocking defending. Why can we not defend corners?

Greacen, McAnespie and Millar are all marking the same player.
Weatherson's not marking anyone.
I presume Walker's supposed to be on Cramb, but he's a good yard away.
And where the hell's Harding?

I felt we were well worth a draw yesterday and had circumstances been a wee bit different we could have won the game. I didn't really feel like Morton were in great control of the first half; I'm sure we had at least the number of decent chances they had and probably as much possession. The goal was a result of a defensive mistake by Forsyth, who had a poor first half but an excellent second half, and, aside from a five-ten minute spell we took after the goal to settle down I felt we were Morton's equals. Aside from one header that Christie tipped over the bar he did not have to full exert himself at any stage.

Second half we were undoubtedly on top and should have taken one of the several chances we had before Ellis buried his header. If you're looking to attribute blame for the goal some of it should go to Greacen who headed the ball needlessly out for a corner in the first place but the Morton defence was clearly rattled by this stage.

The red card obviously changed that game. For me it was one of the harshest red cards I've seen all season. The first booking was for persistent fouling; McKenna maybe made three fouls, Greacen made at least double this in ninety minutes and the referee didn't so much as have a word with him. The second booking was crazily harsh. Only a minute before Forsyth had got a tackle all wrong and taken the right-winger out late - surely a stick-on book? No. McKenna has a tug on Greacen's shirt that in the great scheme of things was insignificant - a second booking to earn a red card? No way. In fact, Taggart committed a similar foul in a more dangerous situation literally two minutes later and the referee didn't bat an eyelid.

It's just as well I didn't post on here after a few beers last night as I'd be accusing Morton's act of crying to the papers as influencing some decisions. I'm still not convinced that it didn't. We got very little from the referee, although I have no complaints at all about the penalty (either the decision or the charitable manner in which it was taken).

I did think that a possibility, but certainly from where I was sitting (in line with McKenna's first half position, basically), his fouls were a lot "stronger" than Greacen's, and the referee had actually had a word with him after one incident prior to the booking.

McKenna was an absolute loose cannon yesterday and I'm not the least bit surprsied that he walked.

Also, I'd put it down less to "crying to the papers" than the SFA making a tacit admission of their gargantuan screw-up towards Morton, and dealing with it in their typical, cowardly way. Not that I think this is what happened - as I say, McKenna was asking for it from about the 10th minute onwards - but going by the events of last week, it'd suit the SFA's modus operandi down to a tee.

The fact that McKenna is ex-St Mirren may have contributed to his 'enthusiasm' during the game yesterday, although I still feel the sending off was incredibly harsh.

I wouldn't dispute McKenna's first booking too much but at the same time I wouldn't have described him as a loose cannon. Certainly in the second half when he was down our end I don't remember him making a foul before he was sent-off and it's not like he was bombing all over the pitch clattering into challenges. Any tackles he made certainly weren't dangerous.

I suppose the frustrating thing about the whole affair is that it rolls over into a very important match with Livvy next week.

Is Laurie Ellis ex-St. Mirren as well? Either way, he's got a fucking gay name.

Yes, he's an excellent player though. Don't know what he was doing at Cowdenbeath!

Didn't really notice him until the goal, to be honest. Who's your number 11? He had a cracking game.

McKenna was fired up but I think it's a tad over the top to describe him as a "loose cannon".

Interestingly despite committing 19 fouls to Stirling's 15 Morton didn't receive a single yellow card. Peter Weatherson was particularly lucky not to get booked as he twice got in the road of quick free kicks without the ref giving a hoot.

Nathan Taggart. Peter Weatherson is still untangling his legs from the game last season...think it's the reason he's gone back up front

The one in the second half sticks out. He was no where near ten inches from the ball when the free-kick was taken let alone ten yards. Aitken tried to take a quick free-kick but Weatherson, who had come from behind Aitken, stuck his boot out to block it as if it was open play. There was no way that was not a booking.

Cheats and thugs!Thats only words i can use to describe the shocking treatment of Kevin Finlayson. Why did Stirling keep booting the ball at our Kevs gonads????

We looked comfortable in first half but as usual Moore sorts everything out at halftime and Stirling took over. They thoroughly deserved the draw and would probably have won if that daft No 10 hadnt pulled Kevs shirt for a crazy sending off.
Binos played really well and didnt resort to cynical fouls or timewaste after they went down to ten men,in fact they tried to push on and win the match.Credit to Bino fans too for providing some atmosphere as it seemed Ton players and supporters just couldnt be arsed.Strange atmosphere in the shed today that i cant put my finger on.Anyone else not feel much passion for the match today?
Wellplayed Stirling.I think both promoted teams from last seasons Div2 will stay up.

You are joking aren't you?

Cynical foul they didn't do but time wasting? Didn't you watch their keeper?

Also they sub (Cramb, i think) shaking evryones hand as if he hadn't saw the rest of his team in weeks and had just met them in the pub.

Feck sake...a part time team down to 10 men away from home...what do you expect Cramb to do.

I bet you weren't complaining when Gardyne did exactly the same at 1-0.
