I doubt it.
Now that they are in the group stages they will get money for TV revenue even if they dont get a point.
I think that get money per point too.

Either way they shouldnt lose money.

Is it not a case of clubs 'lose' money when compared to the Champions League?

**takes out 'special' calculator**

Didn't this come about after Celtic's Seville season, when the club would've made £342billion in 6 games in the Champions league?

Instead, they played 756 matches to reach the Uefa Cup final and had to fork out additional players bonuses etc and ended up making a loss (despite raking in £460m for each home match :o )

Still, that's what happens when you let Martin O'Neill dictate player contracts and bonuses ;)

There is no one on earth who can possibly be able for to gainsay
But that William McGonagall, poet and tragedian,
Is truly the greatest poet that was ever found above or below the meridian

Shouldn't think they'll be too bothered if they do. He was pish at Stenhousemuir.

We made more money in that UEFA Cup run than Basel did tat season in Europe - and that was with them reaching a 2nd group stage.

In the UEFA Cup, you can negotiate individual TV deals for all games unlike the CL.

Basle made €13.5m from the Uefa payments alone (despite having a market pool value less than half of Scotland's predicted €5m for that season), did Celtic manage to make up the shortfall from that from Uefa Cup TV money during their Uefa Cup run?

Basel made 13.424million Swiss Francs not Euros - which came from market share, payments for wins etc.

Media revenues earned by Celtic along came to approx. £5.9million.

Oops, forgot that Uefa publish the accounts in CHF. Celtic would've received another CHF 3m from the market pool (brings the CL figure higher than the Uefa Cup one you've mentioned)

Basically you're telling me that the Celtic board lied about a drop in media revenues that year?

Sorry, you have completely lost me. We didn't have that media revenue in the first place to drop it, so why would Celtic plc mention anything to do with that in their annual accounts?

Another interesting point was that we made more money in 2002/03 from Europe than we did the previous season - CL participation and all.

In short, it is evidently not always the case that participation in the CL wields more revenue than participation in the UEFA cup.

So, Celtic didn't have any media revenue the year before? And this years annual report won't show that media revenue has almost doubled '..almost entirely as a result of progressing in the Uefa Champions League'?

Edit to add: the additional media revenue last season was worth £11.31m - does the Uefa cup have about 15 rounds in it these days?

2nd Edit to add: Celtic 'made' an additional £0.5m from their Uefa Cup run from all sources for reaching the final

Sory pollmac man, I really am not following you what with ther amount of different tangents you seem to be going on.

All I am simply saying, is that it is not always the case that participation in the CL wields more revenue than participation in the UEFA cup.
