I think any money which is brought in for any of their players should be given to their creditors. Dundee being allowed to use the money for any other purpose would be blatantly unjust.

In agreement with our creditors we don't have to put a penny towards the debt on transfer fees under 750k AFAIK.
"Dundee was the best, it was my second home," Nemsadze said. "I loved it very much. Georgians and Scots both have the same kind of character. They are all very warm people. Scotland will always be my second home. I was there for three-and-a-half years. For me, my best moment was the chip I scored* in the derby against Dundee United."

"Lee is now at Dundee United?" an incredulous Nemsadze asked. "Ah ... he is a bad boy. He has crossed the street."

As far as Dundee losing their young players I'm afraid that happens and come January taking some cash or watching them sign a pre-contract and not try a leg for the rest of the season could be the choice.

Exactly, that's my point and either way Dundee lose. If somebody offered 300k for McDonald and Dixon combined in January do you think Dundee would turn it down?

This was the first I was aware these guys contracts was even running out, and you being in opposition to our title challenge, any weakening of Dundee is a good thing  . Don't want you out of business though, thats a bit extreme.

I suppose they could just default on another £300,000 worth of debt anyway...

150k each I'd take that as opposed to 0 and if we won the league we'd be paying them a 20k bonus aswell to leave the club.

I think Dave Mckinnon is bang on with what he's saying. Yes, no doubt there will be offers in January for Robbo and Kev (in particular), but he's correct in that it's their agents who have the power in this situation.
In this day and age, we unfortunately have to live with this fact, but to say that the likes of Robbo, who's a Dee through and through, would not "try a leg for the rest of the season" if he signed a pre-contract agreement with another club, is complete nonsense.

The new board, who I have nothing but admiration for, are not daft. They know they can't keep these lads for long on the Div 1 wages DFC can afford post-admin, so they've had the foresight to plan ahead.
The £20k a-man bonus (budgeted for), to get promotion and the prospect of competitive SPL wages if we do go up, is about as much as the board can do in this situation.

As an aside, for those of you who really do think that Dundee's season is about to go down the pan, maybe you should look at how the under 19's league is shaping this year(click - the future's bright and defo not tangerine!)

Why is it every time I see the words Livingston and consultant together, I immediately think of the name 'Kachloul' and the word 'cheats'?

Is being able to run up huge debt on players and then not pay it an advanatge for Dundee, is it a bigger advantage than our pitch ? B)

With respect, that's a ridiculous question!
Of course running up the debt on players from the Bonetti era doesn't give us an advantage. I'm happy to stand corrected, but AFAIK Robbo at 22 years old, is the only player in our squad who was in the first team squad at Dens the last time we were in the SPL, so where exactly is the advantage for us?

On the question of your pitch, for the record, I posted this on the match thread:-

View PostGibraltar Dees, on Oct 7 2007, 12:12, said:

No sour grapes from me. I always thought this would be a very difficult game, particularly given our recent record against Accies, especially at NDP.

Credit where it's due, well done to Accies on the first Quarter. It's no surprise to me as I said at the beginning of the season that you would be the biggest dangers to DFC.

I think everyone has to get this into perspective though as far as DFC are concerned.
We have 5 home games in the next 7 matches and this was our first defeat in the league since April. I definitely don't believe for a minute that we're "looking over our shoulders" for the likes of St. Johnstone.

On the pitch issue, I wish our fans didn't make such a song and dance about it. Yes, it's not ideal and I personally don't like watching games on these surfaces, but other teams fans don't seem to make such a big fuss after playing and getting beat on it.

Personally I think the more we whine about it before and after matches, the more this attitude will lead to performing badly on it. That certainly seems to be the case with Dundee at NDP - we're beat before we even kick a ball with this mental approach to playing there.

You ought to be spending all of your money repaying creditors.
Instead it is being spent on players.
Henec advantage - or at least non-disadvantage should you wish to be pedantic.

Let me guess - you're paying £0 a week in wages as well.

The point i was making was not a 'go' at Dundee just an example of how every single clubs circumstances are different and each has advantages over each other. In terms of debt and pitches the clubs have different positions both of which are within all the rules, but the constant moaning as if everybody starts on an even keel is rubbish.

ok so spending on players wasn't the best term you could use again I don't really care, we're still here doing things as we do, get over that fact.

if there was a chance of promotion this season would you sign a first division contract for a year now or wait til there might be a chance of spl wages? think about it!!

You're clearly deluded if you think that's the reason they aren't signing anything at this point, any contract they would have been offered already would include provision for increased wages on promotion, it's pretty much standard.

The guys may yet sign on again at Dundee, but not until they have had a really good look at what's on offer elsewhere. Still something tells me at least some will stay, wages are pretty good for a team with six million pounds worth of debt carried over.

Also who the hell does Lyle think is going to come in and make a better offer to him on a bosman? He's ok at this level, nothing special and certainly not deserving of being bracketed with the other players mentioned.

The chance of any club offering decent money in January is negligible considering we have been receiving bids for them for the past two years from Celtic, Leicester, Norwich etc which have all be knocked back. The chance of a decent offer with only 6 months of a contract remaining is near nil i suspect. They will see out their contracts and go in the summer.

I tend to think what Jim McLean says is right, and that running a youth system is utterly pointless in the post bosman era. No first division club or half the SPL clubs are going to make any serious money by selling players, and any good players leave before they peak, so why bother with the youths at all. Be as well saving the money and spending it offering slightly more to poach other clubs good young players.

And I did ask a question in my previous post. In fact I asked two. The problem was you were just far to consumed by your hatred of Savo to answer. Aw well, least I received a rational response from Webby.

Except for the fact its not in the past and its not done, you mean?

Dundee's debt still exists, so as far as that argument goes, your way off.

Nor do I want them out of business. I just want people to take responsibility for their wrongdoings. If someone commits a crime we expect justice for the victim. We were all victims of Dundee's reckless spending. Scottish football as a whole was a victim. For the aforementioned reasons, the immediate and sole priority for Dundee FC should be the repayment of debt.

We are no different to any other div1 club in that if a decent offer comes in for a player they will be sold.Dave mckinnon knows the score and unless there is a decent offer they will stay for the season, this will probably be the case cause no club will want to pay big money for a player out of contract in the summer. If we win the league I would expect all 4 to sign if we dont we will probably lose 3 maybe 4.It would be crazy to weaken the team for peanuts when we are with a shout of going up.I would expect a player to come in come january rather than any leaving. It is a worry but I,m sure so is for pars and st j fans the prospect of losing loan signings gallacher deucher and quinn.

It is, but as things stand, talks have started about getting Gallagher on the longer term. Thank goodness too.

Just as a wee sidenote though, it's amazing how some people know SO much about other clubs finances. Must be a group of accountants on here.

He's done a great job so far, including 2 penalty saves. He's been very assured and I'm confident if we can get Wilson and Bamba playing together in front of him without injury/suspension, we have the foundation of going on a decent run of results.

I have NEVER rated McKenzie and never felt confident with him in goals, Murdoch is a bit lightweight and young as well.

However, it will take a lot more for him to reach "Dorus" hero status :)

Even without all their star players Dundee would still be favourites to take this league. B)
