The draw for the UEFA Cup group stages is tomorrow. Aberdeen are seeded in the bottom pot which is to be expected I think.
Pot one: Villarreal (Spa) UEFA co-efficent 78.374, Bayern Munich (Ger) 73.640, AZ Alkmaar (Hol) 63.995, Panathinaikos (Gre) 55.415, Basle (Swi) 54.869, Bordeaux (Fra) 49.706, Bayer Leverkusen (Ger) 45.640, Anderlecht (Bel) 41.594.
Pot two: Tottenham (Eng) 40.618, Lokomotiv Moscow (Rus) 38.920, Zenit St Petersburg (Rus) 38.920, Sparta Prague (Cze) 37.851, AEK Athens (Gre) 36.415, Hamburg (Ger) 34.640, Bolton (Eng) 32.618, Austria Vienna (Aut) 30.104.
Pot three: Spartak Moscow (Rus) 27.920, Braga (Por) 27.107, Galatasaray (Tur) 26.791, Getafe (Spa) 25.374, Atletico Madrid (Spa) 25.374, Everton (Eng) 24.618, Fiorentina (Ita) 21.808, Stade Rennais (Fra) 20.706.
Pot four: Hapoel Tel Aviv (Isr) 19.338, Red Star Belgrade (Ser) 19.256, Copenhagen (Den) 19.129, Toulouse (Fra) 17.706, Dinamo Zagreb (Cro) 17.533, Panionios (Gre) 16.415, Nuremberg (Ger) 14.640, Mlada Boleslav (Cze) 13.851.
Pot five: Aris Thessaloniki (Gre) 13.415, Aberdeen (Sco) 11.064, FC Zurich (Swi) 9.869, Larissa (Gre) 8.415, Aalborg (Den) 7.129, Brann (Nor) 6.509, Elfsborg (Swe) 4.478, Helsingborgs (Swe) 3.478.
Hardest draw: Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Spartak Moscow, Red Star Belgrade.
Easiest draw: Anderlecht, Austria Vienna, Braga, Mlada Boleslav
Feel free to correct me, all you European football experts out there.
I can't believe Spartak Moscow are in the third pot, they will be the team to avoid for most teams I'd have thought.

They'd really want to be avoiding...
Munich
Moscow
Fiorentina
Red Star
Helsinborgs
Although these would also be ties which should rake in some £££

I think it's safe to say they will be avoiding Helsinborgs

TBH I really can't see them getting out of any group, since they'll be playing 2nd and 4th seeds away I think, and they'll need to beat 2 teams (or if very lucky win 1 draw 1) to get through. However, big clubs = big money which helps since £12M debt. Maybe they should just hope for:
Bayern Munich (Home)
Tottenham Hotspur (Away)
Atletico Madrid (Home)
Toulouse (Away) - because I'm presuming they wouldn't be too happy travelling to Belgrade.
That would be two sell-out crowds at Pittodrie, sponsorship fees, a trip to London, many if not all of the games live on TV with associated money, and they could have some brilliant games too.

AZ Alkmaar
AZ are a tough tie for anyone, great record in the competition over the last few years and offcourse that great home European record.

I think "easiest" draw would probably be:-
Anderlecht
Bolton
Stade Rennais (especially with the Scottish curse over the french)
Copenhagen
The best for money/good games (despite a thrashing in each) would be:-
Bayern
Spurs
Atletico Madrid
Red Star Belgrade
The worst possible draw would be:-
Basle
Lokomotiv Moskow
Galatasaray
Hapoel Tel Aviv
- Difficult group, horrible places to go, and not much in terms of money spinners.

Getafe
Panionios
Would be a very good group for them.
Tight but they could well make it from that.

Munich at home and Spurs away would be fantastic

Yep.
I'd rather we had 2 decent away trips and 2 home games against the biggest club possible to maximise income, god knows we need it.
Home Game 1 --- Bayern / Bayer Leverkusen
Away Game 1 --- Spurs / Sparta Prague / Hamburg / Bolton (nightmare if we drew one of the Russian teams)
Home Game 2 --- Athletico Madrid / Everton / Fiorentina / Galatasaray
Away Game 2 --- Copenhagen / Nurenburg / Toulouse
Simply qualifying for the the group stages exceeded my expectations after we drew Dnipro!!

Must say that I think the standard of the competition is even better this year than over the last few seasons. Again, I think the pots are a complete joke, Copenhagen in pot 4? Spartak Moscow in pot 3? Hopefully Aberdeen can get either a lucky draw or a few money spinning ties.

Doesn't work like that - as i checked last seasons pot seeds and teams like Bolton and Newcastle didn't have the system like that.

Have the draw on in the background and actually getting a tad excited. Aberdeen pulled off a stunning result against Dnipro and deserve some quality games.
More footie to watch on the tele too

GROUP B
Panthininaikos
Lokomotiv Moscow
Athletico Madrid
Copenhagen
Aberdeen
Now the next part of the Jigsaw. Who would you like to draw at home? I would say that you would'nt mind travelling to Copenhagen, however perm 1 from the other 3 as Greece, Russia and Spain hold differing problems. Great draw though and some good games to look forward to.

I would want Madrid and Panthiniakos away from home for decent away trips but early reports indicate it's the complete opposite
Still very exciting regardless though, Come on You Reds B)
