At the launch for a Milan charity tournament - the seven-a-side Adidas Cup - Milan CEO Adriano Galliani had this to say on the subject:

"Regarding the Dida incident Milan has decided not to make any complaint, but the issue must not be reversed, it now appears Milan and Dida were to blame. Fans should not enter the field of play and behave in a violent manner. Milan ethos is determined by the club and thus the club will not complain. Ethos apart I say this...We hoped for an explanation for this behaviour but it now appears it is a Milan player who is at fault. This has nothing to do with Dida, this is a case of a fan entering the field of play during a Champions League game and, naturally, this should not have happened."

Good point actually, it's a bit like the family of a suicide bomber complaining that he/she were allowed to make too much mess when they blew up ;)

I can see Galliani's point, but the fact is there was no malice in the Celtic fans's actions...just over exuberance and Grade 'A' fuddery.

I don't think you can really compare it to suicide bombing  although I seem to discern a distinct move towards the moral high ground by Celtic fans over the last couple of days.

I think the basic point is that if the choob hadn't run onto the park Dida wouldn't have made an erse of himself, which was my rather flippant analogy re suicide bombers

Galliani is simply saying this and his point that you would almost think that Dida had caused the choob to enter the arena is perfectly valid

Without doubt that is the most ham-fisted, and indeed the worst, attempt at an 'analogy' I have ever had the misfortune to read.

Keep up the good work

As for the 'Celtic revisionists', I think you'll find, in one of the various threads on this incident, just what view FIFA takes on this type of playacting by goalkeepers seeking to influence the outcome of a match in this manner :)

That’s their problem, although I cannot say i’m not enjoying what’s happening to them.

There are probably one or two people out there enjoying it

Indeed, but as people keep saying, what he did once on the park is irrelevant. The guy got onto the pitch, and therefore could have done whatever he wanted to Dida or any other player. That is unacceptable.
