I'm pretty sure the fan who came on to the pitch and attacked Gordon Strachan when he was an Aberdeen player got hero status amongst the Celtic fans.
Yet the Celtic fan who did a much less physical attack on Dida has been roundly pilloried, and people have suggested his physical safety may be under threat.
So I was wondering why this might be the case.

No internet then, but I seem to remember friends who were Celtic fans saying they'd buy the guy a pint if they met him.
I certainly don't remember anything like the pillorying this guy is getting.

Perhaps you could show me that the guy was indeed vilified by his own fans then?
Are you seriously saying there was no difference in reaction?
I don't remember ANYTHING like what's happened in the last 24 hours.
My point was really that this incident seems to have triggered a massive reaction, and I was wondering why.
The reason I picked Strachan as an example to contrast it with was just because Strachan is currently Celtic manager.

Mods, why has this been moved to Scots in Europe?
I read the post saying topics relating to Scots in Europe should be raise there.
This is a question about fans reaction to pitch invasions and why it may have changed over the years.
Despite what Seamus and LHH think, it's not a points scoring exercise against Celtic.
Though personally I do think the condemnation wouldn't be quite so radical if there wasn't a chance it would cost Celtic heavily. Even 1 game behind closed doors would surely cost enough to buy up 3-4 of the best SPL players outwith the OF?

Because this could have serious repercussions however back then not a lot would ever be done about it.
