Intertoto games and the super cup thankfully don't and won't (ever?) count for the coeff points.

An added bit of interest in us getting 6 Euro places would be that the mid table SPL clubs would be competing for guaranteed entry to Europe prior to the split.

8th place and we'd get 1 CL group stage entry, 1 3rd rnd qualifier and 4 Uefa Cup rnd 1 places - who needs Intertoto?

If we did then it would make sense to make the SPL bigger?

I wish.

The non-OF teams jealously guard their clashes v the old firm. Do you think they'd be willing to dilute their 40% chance of getting into Europe?

That’s their problem, although I cannot say i’m not enjoying what’s happening to them.

There are probably one or two people out there enjoying it

Sadly no but it would be strange having a league where 50% of the teams get into Europe

Its because of the SPL and its format in part that we have an oppertunity to get all these slots. The reasons against big leagues are well established, I'm not going to get involved in it here.

InterToto should be compulsory for the team finishing below the UEFA Cup place(s) in my view.

This season, only Scotland and Norway out of like 52 UEFA nations didn't enter a club into it.

Looking at the co-effiecents Portugal have alot of points to drop off at the end of this season and have lost half their teams in europe already, Holland only have 2 of their 7 teams remeaining and end of next year will lose a hefty 12 points. Hopefully a few good seasons in europe byu our teams will see us have 6 teams qualifying for europe? That correctish?

We would have 7 teams qualifying for Europe. How is the InterToto 'less' of a European compeititon?

It seem's to only be Scottish people that have this view. It's a good way to get into the UEFA cup even if you're a diddy team.

The Scottish side needs only win 2 ties - or, if our ranking goes up, 1 tie - and they'll be in the UEFA Cup. Were they to get into the last tie (by winning or automatically) they would also receive a bye into the last 16 of the League Cup, as occurs for the other 4 European entrants. It should be noted that the league cup will be a victim if our co-efficient rise because of the following issue:

Likely to be 7 teams needing to enter the Round of 16, I'm presuming an InterToto club

Thus the remaining 30 SFL and 5 SPL have to play down to 9, and thus they will have 2 options: have an all-in (with 1 bye) R1, then R2 and R3 (an extra round than currently) to make 16 - but notice we've got 5 SPL clubs playing 3 midweekers when the rest aren't; or we need another extra round, = 4 rounds, and we can have some byes into R2 or R3 for non-European SPL clubs.

Yip, it's very much a united front now cos every point counts

Any idea how the co-efficient thing works?

I presume you get more points for winning in the CL than the Yoofa???

Nope you egt the same amount of points strangely for winning a Uefa cup game as you do CL. Last year the team who accumulated most co-efficient points was Espanyol.

You do however get bonus points as you reach the later rounds of both competitions, after Xmas.
