Lyon are top of the league on 19 points, 12 points ahead of a Marseille team who won at Anfield tonight

I know you can't really compare such things but I'm fed up hearing how Lyon are a poor side blah blah blah

Lions are ok but they are no European Champions, wait until you play a top team like Barcelona before deciding that you'll win the fecking thing
I agree, it's all the old firms fault

IMO Rangers result was more of a surprise than Celtic's result but both were excellent wins in any case.

That's it, just keep re-assuring yourself that your result was better than Celtics'.

In all seriousness, I couldn't give a f**k which result was better, they were both great results, and combined with the national teams' results, Scottish football is on the up.

Has there really been any naysaying about Rangers? Going to Lyon and coming away with 3 points and 3 goals to nil is probably one of Rangers finest European results. They were outstanding last night.

Of course, you didn't beat the European Champions B)

Again, evidence that Rangers and Celtic can't exist without comparing themselves to each other. They really aren't seperate entities at all. How sad, that instead of basking in Scottish football's current high watermark, it just boils down to one-up-manship.

Aye Rangers fans are disgraceful in that respect

Bloo needs to calm down, the Lyon result was as stunning a result as you can get in Europe.

They're poorer than they were, while Marseille haven't won a single home league game all season and have just sacked their manager.

It's a great result, but this is a really stupid comparison.
Ol' Hick'ry said we could take them by surprise if we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked them in the eyes

Hah, have you been to your Hitler Youth meeting tonight? Last time I was in Airdrie I noticed at the mock Nuremburg rally they had going - to celebrate their glorious relegation at the hands of Stirling Albion - that the marching was a little out of step. Be sure to mention it at your lodge meeting as well.

And I don't want to sound too patronising, because I know you're used to seeing Airdrie crowds these days, but one 14-year old ned doesn't constitute a support.

It's taken Lyon nearly 2 months to nudge ahead of a Valenciennes side containing Filip Sebo.

Perspective indeed

Fixed that bit for you.

3 great results - why do we need to compare them.

Aberdeen's is the most meaningful at the moment - it's actually put them through to the next round.

However the other 2 clubs may make it through (Rangers having slightly more chance) which would make their results equally meaningful.

I love the way people are debating what is the better result, beating Lyon 3-0 away or beating the European champs :D

It is brilliant for Scottish football that we can even utter such arguments, the football up here is seen as a massive joke and there shouldn't be fighting about what is best.

All 3 results in Europe this week were magnificent, bask in the reflective glory of them, you might never see it again!

They're all equally fantastic, but I think Scotland beating France eclipses all of them
