Also bear in mind Celtic gave them a good run last season. It wouldn't surprise me if Celtic got something tonight.

There's a point. Do we get the credit for Rangers win last night?

Yes. ICT's opening game of the season against us showed great value to us last night.

Anyone who watched Milan struggle to a 1-1 draw at home to Catania on Sunday (Catania barely survived last season) will have seen that Milan are not playing particularly well just now.

While Celtic have some obvious weaknesses that Milan could use to their advantage if they were completely focussed on winning, I do get the feeling that it will be a very similar game to the home tie last year, and also a disappointing one for the neutrals out there. I suppose it remains to be seen.

Well the SPL get blamed after a defeat by the OF in Europe. By the same token surely, when you are pushed hard like you were against Motherwell only to go on and win midweek, should we not get the credit?
Really Rangers win was all down to Motherwell

You'll never get a better chance to beat them as they're struggling domestically and many of their key players are looking to be past their best
Your defence hasn't just got bad, it's always been that way and if Boruc starts to go the same way you're in big trouble

Ps not having a dig about the standings, check the goals for and agisnt
They have only lost one game, but drawing most, not scoring. They alsways seem to perform in Europe.

Fair enough with them stats but if you think Sellick's defence is better prepared for Europe than Rangers then you need a reality check mate
I said in the 'Who will go furthest' thread that Rangers would because of our defence and I've seen nothing to change my mind
We were bombarded for 20 minutes last night and held firm
Sellick had the same in Shakhtar and collapsed
It's a thin line and I am 100% sure that our defenders are better able to step up when the stakes are higher

You're not getting my point
The true test of any team is when the stakes are at their highest
Our strongest defence is the one which played last night and they played at a level well above what they have been in the SPL, although they haven't been the lineup for every game
Sad but true but it's inevitable that they'll try that bit harder in Europe than they will against most SPL teams
Whether or not Sellick's defence is capable of upping the ante will be seen over the next 5 games but it started badly against Donetsk

Anyone who has been following the Serie A this season will have seen some dreadful refereeing decisions go against them, and the times they have struck the woodwork over the 8 games or so must be into double figures.
They are due some luck soon, whether it's tonight or not we'll have to wait and see.
"Personally I think we need to keep Rangers in the SPL. I don't care that fans will be upset with that." - Peter Houston (Dundee United Manager).

Also, great result tonight. But what a comedown to have to go to Gretna on Saturday!
