Yet another week without a win. Fair enough we've only lost 2 in 7 league games but we've yet to win and quite frankly that isn't good enough.
Airdrie went down to 10 men just before half time yet we somehow went 2-0 behind before pulling a goal back from a penalty.
We've got a really tricky period coming up where we play Raith, Ross County and Ayr in the next four games, we've got to get results from those, otherwise we'll fall even further behind.

Sounds like Geddes although he wouldn't have been No. 10 as he came on as a sub.
Didn't think he would take a penalty either.

One final note on the Ref absolutely terrible, some of his decisions were bizzare and he was just dying to give the penalty even tho the brechin player flung himself to the ground....Oh and Martin Johnson looks a right player!!!!

Which one was that ?? Big lanky bald guy ? If so then
Brechin were no different than any other time I have seen them in recent years, relatively solid at the back, but any pace or trickery and they are f**ked, as was shown at both goals.
Not really sure what Brechin's tactics were after the sending off, and I'm not totally sure the players knew either.
We are far too slow in our build up, we will be on the counter attack and then for some reason turn back and allow the other team to get back, we have plenty of ability, we just need to be a lot sharper in the final third.
Sending off was harsh, but not unexpected with that ref, one of those refs who thinks the whole game is about him and not the players. Incredibly inconsistant, there were plenty of challenges worse than Russell's in the game, but they didn't even merit a booking according to the ref. He couldn't wait to send Russell off, or give the penalty, or pull the play back for a foul when our players were in on goal. I wouldn't have been surprised if that ref had had Brechin on his coupon, put it that way

Couldn't make it today as I'm skint.
BBC TV reported the final score as 1-1.
How come one man got so much fame?

The sending off was justified - although surprising. Russell made a bad tackle on Darren Smith from behind and caught him on the calf. It looks a serious injury, and I always believe that if a player is so injured in a bad tackle that he can't continue, the guy making the tackle deserves a red card. It's not the first time Russell has had an "incident" with a City player. When he was with St Mirren, he made a late tackle on our keeper ......... studs and everything .......... keeper was out for weeks and Russell only got a yellow card.
Airdrie took their 2 goals well. The usual from the City defence - they backed off all attackers giving room for the strike.
As for the penalty - it was at our end. Charlie King was beating defenders at the edge of the box and was just about to hit for goal when he had his legs chopped. It looked a definite penalty, but we've had some like that denied before. Chris Geddes (who came on as a sub) sent the keeper the wrong way for a good strike. Airdrie hung on till the end despite a few misses by City (Johnston in particular!)
Don't know why there was confusion with the scores - it's not as if the goals were close together. Only thing was the 5 or so minutes of extra time, due to Airdrie's persistent time wasting tactics, which were always pointed out by the ref.

From where i saw it, Russells challenge merited a straight red. 2 foot tackle from behind, and the brechin player never made the second half. i agree with the comment that the ref thought the whole game was about him - Loverings yellow card, for example

At first I thought Russell's sending off was harsh but the more I think about it he probably did deserve to walk. It wasn't two footed but he went in on the guy from behind with studs up and ended the player's involvement in the game, no intention of getting the ball.
So leading into the second half I was bricking it to be honest and I was pleasently surprised by a very strong and fighting second half performance from us. Homer pushed up front beside Prunty and had an excellent second half where he was involved in both the goals and created some nice chances for himself. Prunty and Waddell both took their goals very well and I was pleased with the way the team performed.
I thought the penalty was harsh but then from where I was it was difficult to see, it looked to me like the guy went down very easily with little contact but as I say I wasn't sure. Based on the performance we gave though with ten men I felt we deserved the win.
Ref was a joke but then that starts to surprise me less and less every week, I'm not going to defend our timewasting as teams do it to us every week so it was about time we gave some back.
Standout performances for me were James Sharp (yes folks, he was very commanding, solid and hardly put a foot wrong all game!), Bryan Prunty, Graeme Holmes and Ricky Waddell. Everyone else done well but I thought Kev McD had his 3rd bad game this week, after a great start to the season he is slipping a bit, hopefully he can pick himself up and get back to a good standard!

In a sick kind of way this helped us as has been said before teams sit with ten men behind the ball but Brechin threw on an extra wide man to help out (I think he was trying to go 4-3-3 when they had possesion then revert back to 4-5-1 when not) this created a bit of space in the middle and allowed Homer to push up and support Prunty and was absolutely delighted when homer skinned the boy out wide and set Bryan up for the first, Tippy Tappy p1sh is the future!
I'll have to disagree with the too slow in the build up line, when we got out there was only one man ahead of the ball, why just pump it up for the big centre halfs to win easily?? keeping hold and going backwards is the right thing to do, although our centre stand think they have the right to be watching Barcalona they dont they have a good wee team that try's to play football, give me that over route one every time.

Don't think you understand my point, please do not mistake me for the "get the ball forward Airdrie" brigade. What I mean is that we are on the attack with players up there, and instead of looking for a killer pass or a shot, we fanny about and allow the other team to get back, and it comes to nothing. We are one paced. I don't want route one at all, but if you are going to play it on the deck, it has to be done at pace, and not walking pace, which KMac, Holmer (although he was great in the second half) and others seem to specialise in.

One of the best performers on the park yesterday for me Casper, if he keeps that up I definetly think we have found the big commanding centre half we needed for quite some time.
I reckon he could be doing with a few more matches under his belt but once he gets them I'm sure he and Smyth will form a very solid partnership.
Hopefully this also means McKenna will get moved further forward again as well!
