The second was a fabulous header- the only player who had any chance to stop it was Lee Naylor, who the scorer completely lost.

The cross shouldn't have made it in. Wilson was nowhere near his man all night - he was given a roasting.

Brown was completely out of his depth, which you'd have seen if you'd watched the game, rather than basing opinions on reputation and SPL performances. He perhaps will be better than those players, but he is nowhere near the level needed to go and run a midfield against a team who have far better players than Celtic. They are expecting far too much too soon from him at that level.

Scott Brown has shown what he can do for Scotland, who said anything about the SPL? He's a young player, he's going to be inconsistent. He is streets ahead of Wilson, Naylor, McDonald, Killen, etc.

My eyes are open; regarding Mark Wilson, they have been open long before you had even heard of him. I watched him come right through Dundee United- he was excellent. He was as good going forward into the right wing channel as any of our midfielders, and at that time was being touted as Scotland material- since then he has been injured a lot, but I have seen othing to suggest that he has gotten any worse.

He was at fault for both of the goals?! Are you joking- the first was a combination of a poor pass from Scott Brown, a horrible touch by McManus and a crazy early dive from Arthur Boruc. No blame at all for Wilson. The second was a fabulous header- the only player who had any chance to stop it was Lee Naylor, who the scorer completely lost.

Are you some kind of cretin ? I said he was to blame for both SPARTAK goals ( you know ? , the qualifier games ) AND HE WAS . Who cares if he came through at a Scabby rotten club like UNITED , He 's lousy now he's playing for a bigger club . He is simply not good enough . United IS HIS LEVEL .

No, my thyrois glands are in perfect working thank you.

He was roasted last night because of the poor display from the midfielders who also comprise the defending unit (especially true in an away European game...) that has much more experience than him, and of which a lot more should have been seen (multi million pound players such as Nakamura and Brown and even Paul Hartley).

Youth does not always equal inconsistency, but it sure as hell does equal lack of experience. Brown was naive last night, as was Wilson. But that's to be expected from two players who had just one previous Champions League group stage game between them. Also, the four midfielders who started only had 8 Champions League proper games between them (not including Spartak, which was to all intents and purposes a qualifier) and all of them were Nakamura's.

That said, how much experience did Rangers have?

Finally, a note about the Champions League. Winning at home is everything. Any team who does not win at home can count themselves out, basically.

i said that on the night that wilson is the worst right back ever.

he's a passenger everytime celtic play in europe.

he cant defend, tackle, or head the ball.

he cant attack, go past people and i literally have never seen him cross the ball and it beat the first man.

naylor doesnt look interested but wilson is playing his best, that could be considered a good thing but if thats his best then he shouldnt be in the team.

Worse than Gary Bollan?!

So Mark Wilson can do... hmm... nothing. Why was he so good at Tannadice? How has he managed to lose all of the attributes that catapulted him into the Scotland U21 squad when he had only made a hamdful of games for United?

Wilson is a good attacking full back. Im my view he is as good as Steven Whittaker. His crossing the other night was poor, but did any of the Celtic players cross the ball well? Apart from Naylors cross for Venegoor of Hesselinks header I cannot think of a single good cross into the box. The only game I have seen Wilson torn apart in was the Copenhagen game last year when he was ruched back from injury.

My opinion remains that he was left heavily exposed to some top quality players- Fernandinho and Lucarelli running at you must be bad at best of times, but when Nakamura is essentially the only midfielder shielding you, it must be torture.

Boruc was woeful for the opening goal. He went down like he was guessing a penalty, and the striker put the ball down the middle from 20 yards- the shot should not have beaten an international keeper.

i think he's suffering from the sort of thing kids eveywhere suffer from. like the situation where if you play with your mates youre amazing but if you play for a team or playing with people you dont know you dont perform aswell because youre under too much pressure to do well and you try too hard.

plus theres also the fact that he's just not very good. i havent seen a lot of him in the spl where he might be a good right back, but anytime ive seen him in europe he has been terrible.

Agreed.

I think you look at what attributes he has, even compared to someone like Hutton, and he comes up woefully short.
