United’s team bus was caught in a jam as it tried to cross the Forth Road Bridge, meaning the squad only made it to Kirkcaldy at 2.40pm. And after a 35 minute turnaround they were motoring on the pitch as Raith struggled to live with the pace.
Ayr stormed in front after 11 minutes when Ryan Stevenson charged down the right and centred for Alex Williams, who made the most of a fumble by Rovers keeper Chris Fahey to slide the ball home from six yards.
United were well on top in the early stages and made their dominance count by doubling their lead with a goal which ended a flowing move in the 19th minute.
David Dunn swept a cross-field pass to Jerome Vareille on the right and the Frenchman advanced before cutting the ball back to Chris Robertson who side-footed a lovely finish into the bottom corner from 18 yards.
United were inches from a third as half-time approached when a Dunn corner was met by Vareille but his head flick flew over with Fahey rooted to the spot.
It took Raith 44 minutes to threaten Barry John Corr, but their efforts were summed up by two Stevie Hislop chances which went wide of the target within 60 seconds.
The home side went for broke at half time and switched Andy Tod to attack in an attempt to get some loose change from the Ayr defence. But Ayr always had more in the tank and duly put the game to bed with an hour gone as Stevenson produced another of his specials to light up the game. United could then have routed their hosts but for some tired finishing as the clock ticked down.
..there was no doubting the hugely impressive nature of Ayr’s performance as their long unbeaten run continued in fine fashion.
Does any Ayr fan who was actually at the game think this is an honest report?

Every other Rovers fan sees this but you. Nobody is saying Ayr are brilliant, but your team was awful and duly tanked!

As has been pointed out even the best keepers will make mistakes. I hope that these 2 goals are the last mistakes Fahey will make for a while though, we can't afford that to happen again.

Anyway, I am surprised Steven hasn't contacted the SFL about Ayr only arriving 20 minutes before kick off, and trying to see if there is a loop hole to get the result overturned.
The Fermers and Petherhead next, 6 points in the bag

Can't believe a few fans are outraged by Hislop's "shh" gesture after he recieved dogs abuse for a lot of the game.

You, my friend, are the sorest loser in the history of Pie and Bovril.
I feel sorry for (most) of the other Raith fans on here because its the like of you that typify this "we are the billy big boys of the league and how dare anyone beat us" attitude.
Now put the toys back in the pram and grow up.

Neither can I. I would have stuck the finger up at the fans giving out the abuse if it was me. I am especially disgusted by the two morons who ran down the steps from up the back just to shout at Hislop after he scored. A couple of folk at a right go at them for it and I congratulate them on standing up to these two fuckwits.
In all honesty I thought Hislop was one of our best players thta game. He never gave up and kept at it when the chips were down.

Maybe you want to take the photos when the game is being played to get a fairer reflection.
In the 1st picture, there doesn't appear to be any players on the pitch and the one of our support has players warming up, suggesting it was before the game (when many of our fans were still stuck in roadworks) or at half time (when folk go for a pie, p1sh, fag or all 3).
Now I ain't saying our support was as big as Raith's all conquering following but we certainly had more than that picture suggests

Well, me and my mate weren't in the ground by that point due to the delays on the roads, as we took our seats just a couple of minutes after kick off and even after that there was a few folk coming in.

Too true. We had the same last season when Chris Strain scored at Central Park and 'shooshed' the knobs who had been giving him pelters. The holier than thou brigade gave him more stick for daring to shoosh them!

No, it's probably written from an AUFC viewpoint, emphasising the positive aspects for fans who didn't make it, as you would expect.
Feel free however to give us YOUR honest, unbiased, neutral version of events, remembering to include how much better a team Raith are than Ayr or Ross County....
