`shire 2 Stranraer 3 time for a little bit of reality Rate Topic: -----

I can honestly say that is the first time this season `Shire have played really poorly. Yet it looked like we were going to win at one stage - I was hoping it was going to be `a good team wins, even when they aren`t playing well` - alas it wasn`t to be. All due credit to Stranraer who got better as the game went on and over the piece I`m not going to complain about the result. After such an uplifting start to the season I certainly hope the players were not starting to read too much into the positive media stories that have been around recently (although that was a nice change) - today might make them realise they can`t just turn up and win, they all need to work. Hope the injury to Andy Brand isn`t serious, his hand looked a mess when they took him off. I think its also a useful slice of reality for some of our fans who have been getting just a wee bit carried away with things lately - I won`t name names though!

Was coming back from Perth and spotted three Stranraer players in a black Vauxhall Astra. The player in the front passenger seat sitting drinking a big bottle of WKD poof juice.

The past few weeks I've wondered to myself how shire were going to react after the winning run ended. Theres no doubt they seem to have improved a lot, but it should be interesting next week to see how they react. Should also be interesting to see if our players will be lifted by the comeback today resulting in our first win. Should be a very interesting game next week.

Poor performance and the loss of Brand for any period of time will have a big affect on the team. Simpson was poor today and really needs to 'muck in' more. If McKenzie is still not available for a couple of weeks the midfeld looks a bit unbalanced. Still expect us to win at the weekend though.

This is an outrage. A Vauxhall!! The shame and embarrassment of it all. A campaign must be undertaken to have these individuals named, shamed and banished from the game sine die.

Seriously, I thought we played some good stuff. Couldn't believe it when Shire went two up. We had bossed the game but poor end product and two sloppy pieces of defending looked like it was going to cost us.

Great to see the heads didn't drop and as the game went on we got better and better. Passing and movement was excellent and all told I thought we fully deserved the points.

The third goal summed it up perfectly. An end to end move involving half the team and a dozen or so passes. Quality.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the energy to change the things I can.

Must have been their No.2 .
Evidence being passenger and poof juice. Did you notice if he was using a straw.

Good fighting comeback and 3 good points. It looked like it was going to be one of those days 1-0 down at the break from what had been East Stirlings only attempt on goal then shock horror we lost another early in the second half and that was after Shire had skimmed the post. Our marking for corners is a joke and we payed the price. The defence looks pretty sound when playing straight on but swing in crosses and we are all over the shop and Joe Savage caused us problems for most of the game but I should not complain very rarely do we go 2-0 down and come back to win.
Well done to all involved with the East Stirling trust and it was a pleasure to be the first away supporters to use your new bar in the ground cracking cold pint and a very hospitable bunch.

We all knew it had to end at somepoint, but we didn't expect it after going 2-0 up.

Full credit to Stranraer today, we just didn't look like we were into this game at all today. The blues hit us right from the outset, and kept us tight in the first half, and finally punished us for sitting back too much in the second.

Must say, number 6&7 really impressed me today, gave us trouble all day long.

Hopefully back to better form on Saturday in Elgin, and hopefully some sunshine!

And for Geebo, have 3 Elgin pies ready when we come up, he's a hungry lad.

absolutley gutted - spoke to savo after the game - he admitted we didn't play well ,but still only narrowly lost.i couldn't understand why we didn't keep further forward after we went two up.we didn't play well today but we still threw it away.no reality check needed though - we didn't play well and lost.on other occassions we did - and thats why we're still joint top pointswise.

Shire never deserved to score two goals and if it wasnt for poor finishing we would of had a more comftable victory.

IMO 'Paddy' Keogh made the difference when he came on up-front and used his Physical presence well to link up with Mullen.

Both Gibson and Taid were excellent on wings, only downside was we need to learn how to defend set-pieces.

The best thing took from the result (apart from 3 points of course) was the fighting spirit we showed to come back from 2 goals down to win 3-2. Any other game under Britton if we went 2-0 down we would usually lie down but yesterday we looked like we wanted to win and that showed at the end of the game as the players looked delighted with victory.

That performance yesterday from the Shire wasn't anything like I've been watching the past few weeks. The passing was sloppy and as someone previously said Kelly looked as though he was the only one going for it. We cant win every game obviously, but stranraer def deserved to win after that! I'm not too bothered about the cup game on tuesday, but keeping the points up on the board would be nice, I hope seeing us slipping from 2nd to 3rd will make the lads keep there heads up and play a good game next Saturday.

Well done Stranraer, a well deserved win. Will be attending the next home game against Arbroath so hoping for a better game. :D

I think it was the least well balances we have been. Simpson needs to put in more tackles in the middle. Might be worth pushing him out to the right and playing Craig D in the middle.

Wonder what sort of team will be played on Tuesday.

S`RAER BOSSED THE MIDFIELD FOR MOST OF THE GAME BUT FORTUNATELY LEFT THEIR SHOOTING BOOTS AT HOME

THE EQUALISER & GAME WINNING GOAL WERE OG `S BUT THEY HAD MISSED ENOUGHJ CHANCES BEFORE TO WIN !!!

GOOD TO SEE THE AWAY FANS IN THE BAR AFTER THE GAME

SEE A " TRAVELLING " AWAY SHIRE FAN AND YOU MIGHT GET SIGNED IN ( THE USUAL SUSPECTS)

THE JURY IS STILL OUT IF AKABUSSI & Co WILL BE ALLOWED IN

First Stranraer match I've been to in a while and it was very enjoyable - not least because of the spirited performance and the 3 points. I took the bird along for her birthday (I know how to treat her well) and despite not liking football, enjoyed it immensely.

It was also my first match at Firs Park - it's a cracking wee ground, it would be a shame if you had to up sticks and move to Grangemouth.

Just a couple of thoughts from the match...

1. Why don't East Stirlingshire have any ball-boys?
2. That Gregory Tade player was immense - seemed to be everyone on the pitch at once. However, there is something I've always wondered about foreign players in the lower leagues. Do they come to Scotland to play specifically to play football - in which case do they then look for a 'normal' job to help pay the bills. Or, do they come to Scotland for a 'normal' job and then look for a part-time club to play with?

You still can't resist having a small pop despite the fact we won and you lost and we've said nothing whatsoever about it... you do yourselves no favours.
