Group of death for the Gers, Celtic should be able to get through, don't forget they drew with Milan twice as well last year.

There is no way Rangers will get through, Celtic do have a chance though.

Neither have much of a chance imo. Barcelona and AC are dead certs to go through in these groups and Shakhtar and Lyon and both better than the OF.

celtic are playing teams the played last year and a team they played a few years ago. if i was a celtic fan id be dissapointed with that draw as i wouldnt get to go anywhere new.

rangers are humped but at least they have 6 huge games for the fans to enjoy.

If Celtic can get away points, they're through, simple as that - they are not facing anything too daunting. Fcuk having Rangers group though - the only decent French team for fcuking years and Barca. What can I say?

Good luck to both.

Lyon have been shit this year, though, and they'll still have two important players out injured for most of the group.

In a slightly perverse way, I'm delighted with our group. We probably can only hope for 3rd, but what a group! Celtic have a very good chance of progressing.

Here's looking forward to a good campaign B)

Big bucks for Rangers and great trips for the fans, with a chance of the UEFA Cup spot.
Celtic with their home record in Europe should qualify if picking up points away from home.

Rangers would do excellent to pick up 4 points imo. But to be fair to Rangers I'm sure the three other teams in that group would've prefered another team.

Ouch to Rangers.

Spanish Runners Up (should have been champions), French Champions and German champions. They are going to struggle to get a point with the system that Walter Smith plays in Europe.

You obviously don't watch a lot of European league football.

Not saying Rangers will definitely go through, but neither Stuttgart nor Lyon have played well since their seasons started. I think Rangers can beat both of them at home. Barca is, of course, another story.

I want Rangers to go through, but don't think they can. This season I think is about just getting there for Rangers and aiming for 3rd place, I think.

I do believe we can qualify though. We need to win in Donetsk though.

And someone up above compared Lyon and Shakhtar. WTF?! Lyon are FAR better than Shakhtar, and I believe Celtic are as well.

If you are going to go down that route then neither have Barcalona. Only managing a 0-0 draw against Sociedad (who were down to 10 men). What about Valencia? Having their two best players sent off (Villa stupidly and Joaquian stupidly) and being beaten 3-0 at home. Guess they haven't had the best start to the season.

So I guess you should peer back into that crystal ball of yours and instead of making a statement of fact, make it a question. God I love having free setanta. Hell, if you want to make it a point - Barcalona had a terrible season last year and were quite poor. When they lost Eto'o for those months (and to some effect, Messi) they couldn't put the ball away. With Eto'o out again for a few months who knows what they are going to do.

However, you have to look at the tale of the tape. Look at what Lyon do every year in the group stages - they usually walk it. Barcalona - well you are stupid if you want to write them off so you have Stuttgart as the unknown quantity, but do Rangers have the quality to beat them playing one up front? No chance.

I also take you back to a few years ago when Liverpool won the CL. They weren't exactly setting the Premiership alight now were they? Beating Chelsea along the way (albeit a dodgy goal) but still managed to win the thing. Same can really be said about Arsenal when they reached the final, and even Liverpool last year.

My point? League form means dick when it comes to the champions league.

Lyon have won their last 3 league matches and are currently sitting 5th with a game in hand (against 2nd bottom Lens at home). Taking that game as a win, they jump to 2nd.

I don't really consider league football when going into any cup competition. These games are always one off games that you step your game up for. Liverpool weren't exactly amazing in the Premiership for the last few seasons, but they managed to make the final twice.

Celtic have a chance

its a tougher group than last year but Celtic are on a similar level to Benfica and Shaktar and since there poor away form surely cant continue and they managed to qualify with such a poor away form they have a chance

I personally think they will struggle because they have had so many big games in the CL and come through them but to say they have no chance is a bit off the mark

Rangers will definetly struggle, they are immediately fighting for 3rd place and i think they will do well to even get that

thats just the way i see things tho

Rangers should be getting third at the moment - Stuttgart won a manic Bundesliga last season and are struggling so far.
They'll be losing at Ibrox for sure.

Dont agree with that. I reckon 2 points from 1st 2 games would be a great start(Shakhtar away, Milan home) And 4 from 3 would be superb (add in Benfica away)

If we can get 4 from our 1st 3 games that would leave us needing to beat Shakhtar and Benfica at home to give us the 10 points which should guarantee qualification.
