As it was Queens biggest victory in their history, I'm interested to know anything about the team. Is the ground still there? Is there any sort of team in Whithorn these days?

When did they last compete in the South of Scotland League?

Queens always, Queens for ever and Queens through and through.

I think there is a sunday league team or there was recently. Better asking this one in the south forum or on the Stranraer Unofficial forum. There's a few ex south players on there.

Whithorn formed 1903, disbanded 1969

Played in the SoSL in 1946-59, 1962-63, 1964-69
Southern Counties League 1932-1937

Further to Brian's post, Whithorn's last Scottish Cup tie was a qualifier in the 1968-69 season when they were beaten 11-0 by Duns. They were equally poor in the South of Scotland League that season, picking up one point, letting in 70 goals.

Towards the end of their South League career Whithorn - I think they played in maroon? - were notorious for turning up a man short and having to ask for volunteers from the crowd!
