That (excluding cup replays, and matches in the Scottish Cup proper) there were 3,836 competitive matches played by HFL, EOSFL, SOSFL and Junior clubs during 2005-2006 (and a further 18 matches were unplayed because of clubs withdrawing or being expelled from leagues or cups). There were also 2 extraordinary play-off matches held.
This equated to 36 games per club. There were 62 trophies won in total - of which 18 were leagues, and 44 were cups (7 of which included group stages.) The largest league, in terms of matches, was the Highland League (210) - while the smallest were SJFA Lothians 2, and SJFA Tayside 2 (72 each). The largest cup, in terms of matches, was the OVD Scottish Junior Cup (161, excluding replays) - while the smallest were the SJFA SuperCup, and Clydesdale Cup (3 each). The largest cup involving group stages was the Grill League Cup (107), while the smallest proved to be the North of Scotland Cup (15).
The most successful team in 2005-2006 were Irvine Meadow, Lochee Utd and Spartans, with 3 trophies each, followed by Auchinleck Talbot, Glenafton Athletic, Tayport, Camelon, Oakley Utd, Bonnyrigg Rose, Culter, New Elgin, Threave Rovers and Annan Athletic who all got 2 trophies each. The earliest cup final was the SJFA SuperCup (30th July), while the latest were the John Walker East of Scotland Cup, and the Challenge Cup, both of which weren't completed until the 10th June. Interesting stuff..................
