Any information about this guy, who played a couple of games for Stenhousemuir in the late 1970's?
Cheers!

Cheers loknow..do you know of a site which lists Polish internationalists? The guy now stays in Embra, but I'm told he played for Poland at one point.
Gwardia are now well down the pecking order in Polska, and I can't understand the lingo from the sites I've gone on to.

I asked on your behalf on another message board and they said he was born on 19.6.51.
In the old Iron curtain days this was a wee bit young to leave Poland legally so he probably defected in which case he'd have been banned for a year (I think) by FIFA.
And they said it was Gwardia Białystok, not Warsaw. Since this was a lower division team he didn't play for the international team. Unless it was youth caps or something which would be very hard to verify.
Couldn't find him on 90minut.pl which has a good database of Polish players. If you go to 'szukaj', type the name in the box, then press the 'zawodnik' button it usually has a profile of the guy you're looking for.

Out of interest, what age did you have to be to leave Poland legally? 27's not that young.

I'm not sure about this but think it was up to the communist authorities in each case. I remember people like Blokhin weren't allowed to leave until they were well past their best.
Having said that I read an article about some Poles who came over to Hamilton Accies in the early 70s, because Accies chairman was himself a Pole and circumvented the red tape by sending over a load of electrical goods from the shop he owned.
