I am a bit of a buff for Reserve Leagues. In fact, I love Reserve Leagues. I think it is the quirkiness of the thing. If it was up to me we'd treat Reserve Leagues with the utmost respect (note they are Reserve Leagues not reserve leagues) and the same for the Reserve League Cup (the final of which, Gretna v St Johnstone, is Thursday night btw).

Anyway, I only have copies of the Scottish Football Review going back to the turn of the millennium, so I was wondering if you could give me a rundown, if possible, of the:
- winners of the SFL Reserve League (West); I think this was formed in 1955
- winners of the SFL Reserve League (East); similarly I think this was formed in 1955
- winners of the SFL Reserve League Cup; I have no idea when this was formed

I know Celtic have won the SPL reserve league all three seasons (including 2006-2007) since it was formed out of the old SPL Under 21 League. There is no SPL Reserve Cup.

Data on http://geocities.com...ccoll/index.htm seems a bit patchy on Reserves.

St. Mirren best St. Johnstone last season. Saints also won it in season 1977/78.

Saints won the Reserve League West in 95/96
The best thing about being dead is you no longer have to say "I wish I were dead".

The best thing about being alive is you can still say "I wish I were dead".

St Johnstone won the Reserve League Cup in 2002/03 and 2004/05. We've also won the Reserve League East on numerous occasions.

We won the first SPL Under 21 League in 1998/99.

I too would be interested to know if there was a list of winners available.
Fascists against Beatson.

All this sort of stuff is covered in Bernard Stocks' 'The Winners 2004'.

Reserve football in Scotland was a bit erratic for long periods of time! Non-league clubs played alongside Senior 2nd/3rd strings when the original Senior non-leagues dried up.

The Reserve Leagues East and West were formed in 1978. The Reserve League ran at various points between 1909 and 1975 then 2001-02. Inbetween had been the Scottish Alliance League.

The Reserve League Cup first began in 1942.

Rangers won 12 Reserve Leagues between 1909 and 2004, Celtic 11, Motherwell 6.

I've recently ordered "The Winners 2004" so I'll get the details out of that. Also found this:
http://geocities.com...l/nonleague.htm
scroll down to "Scottish Reserve League" and there are a reasonable number of titles known.
