A somewhat shorter list of missing attendance figures from the 1980s. These are:
Pars/Motherwell: 28/3/81
Pars/Partick: 5/3/83
Pars/Cowden: 19/3/84*
Pars/Shire: 19/3/85
Alloa/Cowden: 10/1/88 (Scottish Cup)
Thanks again.
*This game (one of the worst I can recall seeing at East End) was a replay of the abandoned game of 2/1/84 - which should never have started, as subsequent events resembled what I imagine bad water polo to be like. If anyone has an attendance figure for that, then I'd be glad to have it, although attendances for abandoned games seem frequently not to be given!

Interested you list the Pars/Cowden game as 20/3/84. Was sure it was 19/3 (as per the Pars
database site), which is my birthday, which is probably partly why I remember it being such a bad game!!!
Anyway, doesn't really matter what date it was, it was absolutely dreadful, probably one of the worst ten of the many games I have been to!!
Thanks for all the info over the last few months, it's been a great help in filling gaps on games I have been to. The next stage is to get more detail (times of goals, referees, orderings off, missed penalties, etc.) but I guess that's a newspaper archive job, and is probably for when I get the sack, or retire.
Am sure there'll be more requests off and on though as I remember other games I was at.

The Rothmans for that season says 20th March. The SFL Review entry for the Pars is a mess that season and there are wrong dates everywhere (ie Forfar on the 9th April given as 24th March). They for some reason have given the results under the original date, so the game in question is down as 2nd January.
The Cowden entry seems more in order and tallies with the Rothmans saying 20th March.

When I read your posting, I had a look at the programme for the original date of the postponed Forfar game (24th March as you say) to see what it said. Consistent with what you say above, it has the score under the original date too, although that could be a throwback to the game that was abandoned (I am sure it was scoreless when the referee finally realised he might drown if he let it go on any longer).
There is nothing in the narrative in the programme about the Cowden game, but there was nothing much to say about it! Being in my student days, I wasn't a regular at East End by then, so I don't have any programmes from later that season.
I'll change my record to the 20th.

I have a record of that attendance as being 1,710 instead of Rothmans 1,800. Can't remember where I got it from mind you!
Rothmans given attendances were all estimates up to a certain point in time. I don't know if the policy of releasing crowds changed at some point. Certainly even in the 70s and early 80s one or two clubs were releasing accurate crowds. Others were not.
