What is the biggest bet you have ever placed or seen placed?

During the cup I whacked £100 on

ITALY to beat Ghana
BRAZIL to beat Croatia
ARGENTINA to beat Serbia
HOLLAND to beat Ivory Coast

Payed back £600 and it was an incredibly boozy weekend.

Theres I guy I know who drinks at my work put £200 on Barca to win the Champions League and Italy to win the World Cup which payed back an incredible £12,000 :o

I've currently got £600 on Morton to win the 2nd division (got it at 4/6).

The most I've seen someone place was over the summer in a tennis tournie (can't remember which one). A guy who I was working with had £10,000 on Federer at 1/2. He won.

The weekend after he had £9,000 on East Fife to beat someone away from home at 1/3 (ignoring my advice to take Man Utd at Watford at the same price instead). He lost.

I put £320 on a bet a few years ago, it was a Leeds game that they were getting beat 3-0 by someone. Put it on in running as it meant I'd get about £30 back for the other team winning, easy money I thought. It came back to 3-2, I couldn't bear to listen to the game for the last 5 minutes.

Most I've had on one selection, over a series of bets, was Chart King to win the 1999 Greyhound Derby. He did at 8/11
Biggest amount on one slip was a £100 patent (total stake £700) on three horses. They won at 2/5, 4/5 and 5/4, returning £2048.
Biggest loser was £400 on David Coulthard finishing shead of Eddie Irvine in the British Grand Prix in 1999, Irvine beat him by 1 second after a botched pit-stop by the lantern-jawed Scot.

£200 on boca to beat rosario away in august which won, then same amount on them to win league which they managed to lose in a play off after being 50/1 on at one point, originally wanted to get a 10k loan to stick on this which I still regret as I could have covered them easily at one point but i didn't have to balls to do it alone and perhaps unsurprisingly nobody could be talked into joining me. Bigger bets have been had on the wheel of evil but I've now learnt my lesson to an extent and just have smallish sports bets, had £120 on Newcastle to win in Belguim other week and I wouldn't think twice about having other large sports bets if I like the price altough I currently don't have any accounts.

Best win i had was New England Patriots to win the Superbowl (they were 2-2 at the time) E/W at 25/1. I bet £18 (all I had left in my account) and it turned into over £500

I've predicted 2 league championships with Falkirk correctly.

Falkirk under McCall, I had £100 at 7/1 I think. I laid the bet when McCall fecked off. Still made a tify profit.

then

First season at TFS, another £100 on Falkirk at 6/1 I think it was. Didn't lay this time, and used the profits to book a holiday for me and the missus. She's never minded me punting since, although those were one off bets. I normally bet between £10 and £20, always on single bets.

Had around 100 notes on an Old Firm double one midweek a few years back. Rangers were away to Killie and let a two-goal lead slip with ex-Celt Tommy Johnson scoring a pen right at the death to equalise. I felt physically sick. :(
I've become so cynical these days....

At the casino I have lost ALOT more than I have won, biggest Loss 500 Biggest Win several around the 200 mark.

At poker in 1 game - biggest win USD700, biggest loss USD1000

On football biggest loss I think was 225 on Hearts v Gretna at 4/9 in 90 mins
Also lost 200 on France v Croatia EURO 2004 at 1/2 - game finished 2-2
And 175 on Portugal v Greece in opening game of tournament

Biggest Bet I think was 250 on England v Wales at 2/5 in WC2006 qualifier at Old Trafford

Made several bets around the 200 mark as singles on teams with mixed success.

Most recent big bet was Brazil v Croatia at WC, first big bet was 175 on Stranraer at East Stirling in 2003 - we were 4/7 (what a price!) but went 1-0 down before winning 4-1.

Oh and also remember having 200 on a horse - Attraction at 6/4 to win a race and it won - that was actually the day after the France v Croatia loss, I had had England on to beat Switzerland in the game before that.

Yip steer clear of the horses and try to with the roulette now though and haven't had too many big football bets this season, poker my main thing recently with a fair degree of overall success.
Was fairly big into the football betting and intend to get back into it next season as odds are usually better at the start of a season.

My peak was during EURO 2006 where i was putting big bets on horses/football regularly and then got heavily involved in the roulette. Must have blown a couple of grand at the casino in a month - not very clever.
