As someone who has only ever done football accumulators, or individual bets in the bookies, how do I put a bet on a team to win the league.

If I wanted to go into say, Ladbrokes, and wanted to bet that a hypothetical team(for example Arbroath) would win their division, how do I go about it? With the accumulators I can just grab a form and fill it in...not sure about any other bets.

Any advice much appreciated, cheers!

Just write on a blank slip, in your example, "Arbroath to win Scottish Division 3 2006/07" and then get the person on the desk to put down the current odds and sign it.

Before you even do that, check who gives the best value.

Don't walk into the first high street bookies that you pass and bet. Even if you can't/don't want to open a new account with an online one, use www.oddschecker.com to see which of the high street ones gives you the best odds.

Bear in mind that some online bookies (i.e. Ladbrokes) will not let you withdrawn cash into a debit card without sending them a copy of your passport or equivalent.

Xbass - don't walk into Ladbrokes and place a bet on Arbroath.

Currently BetFred are showing 9/2 for Arbroath against Ladbrokes 3/1 and Wm Hill are only 5/2
(odds comparison taken just now on oddschecker.com)

There is a BetFred in Stirling pretty much opposite Argos.

These odds might change so I would get in sharpish Monday morning - even if they do come down in price it is unlikely that BetFred won't still be better value than Ladbrokes and Wm Hill.

Good luck - I look forward to my 10% at the end of the season. :D

Edited to add - Apologies to Swampy - just read his post which covers most of the above - apart from the best odds and the location of the place to visit.
