I'd never usually encourage people to back my own team but I think Saturday offers a great chance for folk to tidy up on Saints away to Partick Thistle.
The price is 13/10 and Thistle's squad is supposedly ravaged by a virus going round (update - Thistle have requested the match be postponed). They couldn't even name five subs in losing 3-1 to Dundee on Tuesday and one of the four listed was a 16-year-old who only went along to carry the hampers! The virus may clear up but even ignorning that, Saints recent record against Thistle, and at Firhill is superb.
The last five league results at Firhill are:
Partick 1-5 Saints
Partick 0-4 Saints
Partick 0-4 Saints
Partick 0-4 Saints
Partick 0-4 Saints
Those results form part of a 14-game unbeaten run against Thistle for Saints.
Just something to maybe think about for the weekend. :-)
Also, if anyone can find a goalscorer market, Peter MacDonald has 9 goals in 7 games against Thistle.

Agree with all that, good tip.
If the game isn't postponed, get on early as I'm sure the bookies will change their price. Remember Peterhead 8-0 Forfar earlier in the season? Forfar could hardly get a team together and Peterhead's price was slashed.
St Johnstone are 5/4 at the moment on Betfair, almost all bookies have started reining them in already, best price in the country is now 5/4 (Betfred & BlueSq), most places are going about 11/10.
Edit to add; Still 13/10 available at Hills.

Yeah, sorry, I should have said I got my 13/10 @ Hills.
Also stuck a £1 each on 4-0, 4-1, 5-0, 5-1 and 6-0. Odds, again @ Hills, vary from 50/1 to 100/1.

Stuck a little wedge on at Betfair at 2.26 (2.197 after commission), I would normally shop around a bit more but all my money is currently in my Betfair account.
Edit to add; And the advantage with Betfair is that if the price comes crashing down, I can lay it off and take some money without a ball being kicked.

Good points, i've put £2 on St Johnstone 0-4 (£80), 0-5, (£150) and 0-6 (£200). I just hope the Saints defence stays strong and Thistle don't nick one although good thinking Radford covering them getting one.
Offcourse it all hinges on half of the Thistle team being out, and Saints doing the job as expected.

Paddy Power have suspended betting on this game temporarily and Ladbrokes are only offering evens on St J now. 20 notes on, it's pretty much free money if the game goes ahead. Might well stick more on tmrw.
I'd expect them to beat us even if we had a full team TBH, but with 10 fit players (and 3 of them goalies) it's got to be a walk in the park for the Perth Saints.

I notice that £38K has been matched on Betfair so far, but the price has remained the same pretty much. Worrying.

Think I will go for that too.
Tenner on St J, and £2 each on the correct scores.

Ladbrokes offering 6/4 on the 1st £50, 11/10 thereafter.
Prices for the scores were
4-0 and 4-1 - 66/1
5-0, 5-1, 6-0 - 100/1
Obviously got a 0-0 written all over it now!

B) I got the Saints at 2.16 putting £18.72 on which will make me £21.72, I've got the slight feeling old Dick might be making a mountain out of a molehill here though, hope i'm wrong

Odds have been cut on Bet365 and Coral now, Saints are odds on to win, but you can still get a good price on Betfair, anything over evens is good value.

That was in the shop this morning. they were 6/4 on the printed long list, and I noticed the message on the screen at the desk about the 1st £50 quid. That was at about half ten though.

If I was worried about encouraging folk to back my own team in December this is even harder but Airdrie United (12/5 @ Hills) to beat St Johnstone this Saturday is tremendous value IMO.
This will be Saints' 6th game in 17 days and Owen Coyle has so far resisted the temptation to change things around too much despite the poor results, mainly because our squad has very little depth to it. Despite an uninspiring 2-0 victory over Partick Thistle last Saturday, we lost 2-0 at Firhill on Tuesday against a side we'd looked very comfortable against earlier in the season and who hadn't won a home game in 2007. Our two games before that were against another two sides at the bottom of the league where we drew with Ross County and lost to Queen of the South, the game at Palmerston was the first when we really started to look jaded. At least 6 players that started on Tuesday were far from 100% fit and the two strikers lasted only an hour. Steven Anderson was sent off and with Kevin Rutkiewicz injured, Kevin James very doubtful - and he'll be far from fit if he plays - and Allan McManus looking knackered and playing poorly, our defence is a shambles, a defence that has conceded at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 10 away games.
Not only are we playing poorly though, we have never won a match at New Broomfield in 6 attempts and have lost the last three (1-2, 1-2, 1-3). Airdrie picked up a long overdue win last weekend so should have some confidence back and I'd expect them to win this game against a side who haven't won away from home in the league since early September. Our away record since our first defeat at Clyde is 0-3-7.
12/5 is far too high a price on Airdrie and I'd expect it to drop before Saturday.

Depends how you mean. Would we take him, as he is now, for this weekend? Probably! But he wouldn't have been in the team until a few weeks ago when the injuries started so all his hard work would have gone to waste and he'd be back in terrible shape. When all our strikers are fit, he would still just be the fourth best option and he needs to be playing every week.
He's done well for himself but we'll see what happens over the summer when he's unsupervised for a few months.
