Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I can't help feeling opportunities have been missed this week, by me at least :(
The five British teams all won their Champions League games and only Man Utd at Evs were even verging on dodgy.
According to Coral prices, the five on a line would have paid around 15/2. I'm sure a few folk would have had it.
But it's the first scorers that will probably have hit the bookies hard.
Miller (5/1), Saha (11/2), Henry (10/3), Drogba (9/2) and Crouch (4/1) were all first or second favourites and easily backable
Add in Van Nistelrooy (I don't know what price he was, but I'd guess 10/3) and I would imagine a few punters are really rubbing their hands.
My mate does a lucky 63 with first goalscorers every Saturday. He got five right about 18 months ago and got over £5000 back for his £6.30.
The same bet on these six this week would have paid £6400, including bonuses.
A guy at work has already told me someone on a Celtic fan site had a 50p yankee on Miller, Saha, Henry and Van Nistelrooy and is getting £700 back.
I reckon the Line of the Week in the Record on Saturday could be interesting.
Anybody here smart enough to realise the potential in this before the matches kicked off?
I did notice the trend after Tuesday night and thought about a Crouch/Drogba double, but reckoned that would be too much to ask after all the fancied players did the biz on Tuesday :(
For ever and ever, my heart will be true ...

If theres one thing that get's on my nerve's about Pie and Bovril, its the amount of poster's who dont know how to use apostrophe's. So heres a lesson for you's - if in doubt, leave them out. I also hate 'of' instead of 'have' and piss-poor speeling. Its my own fault its been bugging me for a while, as I should of thought of pointing this out sooner. Proberly

I suppose I should have pointed out that I can't really complain.
Tidy wee profit from backing any 3 and all 4 from Carlisle (8/11), Swansea (6/5), Yeovil (11/10) and MK Dons (4/5) on Tuesday night :D

I noticed to some extent and had the contents of my wallet which was £32 on a Liverpool/Chelsea double at Evens. I feel that was taking advantage to a reasonable degree.

How do you do an accumulator on first scorers? Is thant not a hell of a lot of writing, do you have to write the game the player is in as well?

I sound really dumb, I know.
This is my territory be on your way...

You just write it like an ordinary line Neilly, ie

Drogba to score 1st goal 11/4
Henry to score 1st goal 3/1
etc etc

Sound. I reckon I will start doing these for small stakes, especially Sunday games as it gives you a bit more interest if you're watching the games on the telly.

As you say it gives you a bit of interest and is always worth putting on a wee accumulator, something like 6 x 50p dbls, 4 x 50p tbls, £1 accy

A Sunday bet i often do is to pick two live games, and pick two first goalscorers and two correct scores in each match.
Cover them in 8 singles, 24 doubles, 32 trebles and 16 4-folds, even for 10p's it's a £8 bet.
If you can get two of them right (remember you have two selections for each of the four events), you get your money back, any more and you're raking it in.
The best thing is, it's an absolute nightmare for a bookie to settle, as they need to do each bet individually because the price for the scorecasts is different to the multiplied odds. As a consequence, i often get ovepaid when i go to pick it up.

I like the sound of this shit, I'll give it a bash next Super Sunday.

Got a big single on Fulham at 8/5 tonight, I've lost the plot

Great quote from Trevor Francis;
"I'm sure (Damien) Francis would rather have cleared the ball than stick it in his own net."

It continued last Thursday as well with Martins (10/3), Robbie Keane (9/2) and Benni McCarthy (don't know, but guessing around 4/1).
Noticed also that the line of the week in the Record was indeed a first scorer line.
Miller, Saha, Henry, Drogba and van Nistelrooy got some guy £2700 for his £6.20.
Jammy b'stard :D

My mate's uncle told me a few years ago that he always bets 2-2 and 3-2 to both teams if he's going to be watching a game live on TV, just for a bit of interest, and that it had come up a few times.
I've tried it a few times, with no luck, and was going to do it on Monday with the Watford-Fulham game but never quite got round to it.
Watched the full SPL on Setanta so only switched over to Sky just as Fulham made it 2-1.
'Knew' right away that they would score again and spent the next 20 minutes cursing my luck because I hadn't made the bet.
3-2 Fulham paid 28/1, so I was moaning like hell when they scored, so I don't know who was happier when Watford made it 3-3 seconds later.
Me, because I could stop moaning, or my missus because I'd have been even worse if I'd put the bet on only to lose a 28/1 winner like that.
