Echo midtons comments there.Thats two games against cowden and two great games. Attacking football is a joy to watch and cowden will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. When you compare that to Ayr United, its night and day.

Bit curious as to what time wasting you guys are talking about.Apart from lilley and McGowan walking instead of running off, im totally lost!!

400 morton fans, lol, aye ok!

First time ive been to central park and wasnt as bad as i was expecting, quite liked it actually!

I am pretty certain the 1300 plus figure is correct rather than 1100.

I thought they were wasting time coming off. Suppose if we were winning we might have done the same :D

I thought it was a pretty average game tbh. Is the es pee el really that bad?

When you've become used to the ball being played sidewards and backwards throught the middle of the pitch, it made a change to see some wing play and directness.

Stand outs for me were Stevenson, McGowan, Paatelainen and one or two others I can't remember the names or numbers of other than Morton's number 8.

Morton were streets ahead of any other team Cowden have faced this season. The Ton deserved the three points but we did manage to give them a wee scare towards the end.

Good crowd and and everyone seemed well behaved. Although I did witness the sad sight of FIVE Morton fans trying to get in for nothing alongside a guy in a wheelchair. Football doesn't need leeches like that!

Nice to read through so many sensible posts from both Cowden and Ton fans. Glad of the 3 pts as I doubt many will visit the Blue Brazil and take away much this season :)

This probably sums up the flow of the game:

Cowden........................Morton
9 ..........Goal Attempts........ 14
3.......... On Target............... 5
6.......... Off Target............... 8
0........... Hit Woodwork......... 1
1........... Offsides................. 2
2........... Corners................ 11
15.......... Fouls..................... 4

Neither team particularly had their shooting boots on to day as both only got a relatively low percentage of shots on target. TBH I don't remember Morton hitting the woodwork although there were quite a few close things especially in the first half. I think the corner count tells a story.

Credit to Cowdenbeath for having a real go though. In the second half they seemed to work on cutting out Miller and Stevenson which stopped Morton dominating as they had in the first half. Also, thats two matches against them where we seem to have assumed the game was won at halftime, stood off and nearly paid the penalty. The match was also played in a good spirit with no bad fouls particularly.

I reckon that Cowdenbeath will make the play offs but I think they may have to rethink their style a bit come the winter and quagmire pitches, etc. I expect that they will have to compete more in midfield or pay a price.
I plan on living forever! So far, so good!

I'm not sure if you have been mxing up who was who. Stevenson was number 8 and played wide right. Inside him was Chris Miller wearing number 7

Fair play to Morton. Unusual for both sets of fans to agree on the result.

Re: a change of style. That won't happen. Mixu played 4-3-3 all last season. Do not make the mistake of assuming that we will become lightweight during the dark winter months. Ask the Stenny and Berwick fans. The team has grown up playing this system and last year we kept doggedly putting together results when Stenny and Berwick were streets ahead, points-wise. We hung in there and finally Berwick and Stenny stared bottling it and a fabulous Cowden run the last couple of months earned us the championship. It is worth noting that I don't think we actually managed to beat Berwick, the Championship favourites, all season. I would not be too cross if the same thing happened this season !

Nevertheless the plaudits go to Morton today. I don't think the game neccessarily told us anything since we had 5 important palyers missing unless others beg to differ. Onwards and upwards chaps.

i was thinking something similar myself - bit naive of tonsilitis to assume the you'll struggle come winter since you managed to get through last winter not too badly :P

The league table in your avatar is slightly out of date.

My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. It said if you don't want to end up in here, stay away from crime, women and drugs.

Trouble is, that don't leave you much else to do, does it?

Incidentally, "big up" to the friendly local in Cowdenbeath who indicated that I'd left my glasses on the roof of my dad's car while we drove off. Had my glasses fallen off the car halfway down the motorway, I'd be a poorer man for it, financially.

Swampy, what were you doing with your specs on the roof of your dad's car?
BryanTONfan, was everything OK with the wheelchair?
400 Morton fans paid to get in and another 400 climbed over the fence. Life is tough when you're on the dole.
Congratulations to Morton - on top of the league on merit.

I took my glasses off to remove my sweater before getting into the car to go home, but apparently got distracted during this 3-second task and ended up just leaving them there.

It was a guy towing a stock car on the main street in town who yelled through the car window to us. I am forever in his debt :D

Your love of the 'Ton is truly touching. Just because we outclassed you, don't get eaten up with bitterness, Raithsaltire. When you get humped on your own midden by a classier team, the noble thing to do is to praise the victors and move on in what passes for your life.
